I'm a freak when it comes to music
Plain and simple folks here's my list of freak fav's:
1. Nirvanna(all others no specific order)
Digital Underground
Insane Clown Posse
Pearl Jam
Stoned Temple Pilots
Jimmy Hendrix(yes I'm white and no I can't 'hear' him but nobody plays guitar like that)
Enya
U2
Guns-N-Roses
Metallica
Michael Jackson
Method Man+Mary J. Blige and Method Man without her
Eagles
Pink Floyd(is there anyone who doesn't like pink?)
Phil Collins
Def Leopard
Bon Jovi
Notorious B.I.G.
Tupac Shakur
single song by group split up: "Ain't nothin but a G thang baby" (Snoop Dog/Dr. Dre)
R.E.M.
Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers
Sting and/or The Police
Queen and/or David Bowie
Puff Daddy(can't believe I just said that but oh well)
MC Hammer(now known as the retired Hamma preaching somewhere in Oakland, CA)
Leesha Keys
Rob Zombie
Static-X (vegas local band I think)
There is one country music singer that I like but I'll keep that a secret. I don't want people getting the wrong idea about me.....that is for the most part country music is really bad. And I might mention that I'm not allowed to play any of my music around my kids or wife(on strict orders from her not to). She says and I quote, "Hearing it makes me very violent and angry!"
Please don't ask me what she listens to because if there is a such a thing as ethnically white then she's the poster girl...got it? All those jokes that black comedians say white people liten to.....yup she's the one they're talking about.

All this talk about rock and metall, but only someone mentioned Guns N' Roses. I mean c'mon, they are legends of music. I also love Aerosmith, Steve Taylor beeing, in my opinion, the greatest vocalist ever (his voice can be put in a top 3 along with Freddie Mercury and Sinatra).

Music selection cont'd
Ok Steve Tyler? Seriously, dude what the hell can I say about that guy....can't say anything because I don't know him but in Lord of the Rings his daughter is.....damnit I'm married! Ah well his greatest song was "Janey's Got A Gun".
Adding to my list-o-Freak-Fav's:
Prince(or the artist formerly known as Prince with that weird symbol) anyway his best album, AND HE KNOWS IT, is Diamonds and Pearls.(I don't care what he does to try and suppress its fans it WAS AND IS his best album)
LoL, I would just like enthusiastically repeat that Nirvanna is my fav band of all time. Apologize for my redundancy folks but I'm a zealot when it comes to my grunge gods.
And I would like to send a message to all people who have been violated: Listening to Insane Clown Posse's "**** the World" and "Boogie Woogie Wooo" will cheer you up I promise. Whatever you do don't listen to country unless you want your house to catch on fire, your dog to run away, your wife to leave you, and have another drink for all the good times in your life.

I listen to songs of the Russian 'author's song' genre. Not much point of stating it here since you wouldn't know what I'm talking about, but I really never heard anything that can compare to it. Although my music collection also includes many other, more popular bands such as the beatles, eagles, ac-dc, the doors, and some bony M stuff.
And of course, for humour there are always Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie and the Arrogant Worms. They are cool, even though they are so very Canadian.

Please explain! And you'd be surprised how many others share your interest.
Have you heard of Leningrad Cowboys? (an ecstatic mix of rock n roll, ska, Russian folk and balalaikas, even "communist" choirs )

If you're Russian you probably know about Vysotsky, Vizbor and Okudjava (these are my three favorites). For the non-Russians, this article explains everything from beginning to end.

Unfortunatly, the fans of the genre are getting older and it's very difficult to find people of my age who enjoy this kind of music. And even more unfortunate is the fact that the truly talanted poets are all dead and new ones don't seem to be appearing. It's difficult to love a dead genre.
