Cyclops underestimated?
I have recently learned that Cyclops can kick some serious butt.
Especially during a seige combat and you have Arrow Towers.
They are also excellent for protecting your town against wondering heroes, while your main heroes are out powering up.
Their area attack can take out 3 troops at once from the arrow towers, plus they get a attack and defense bonus from the towers.
Also if your a Might hero and you have a no range penality item your cyclops will be deadly.

Cyclops are bad units, in a view of balance. Ogres were never chosen, because, they was to weak and useless. In Equilibris, however, Ogres gain more spells and better stats, so they're not useless anymore. Cyclopes are one of the best shooters in the game and this is the first time I hear, that they are underestimated...

I agree with the other replies... how do you underestimate them? They are fargen awesome.
Anything that can hit 3 troops for major damage from range is just awesome...

Cyclopes are deadly, but risky and expensive, and, when the enemy is adjacent, pretty weak.
I normally choose Ogre Magi.

Yeah I guess saying cyclopes are underestimated is pretty stupid. I just never see much people playing them, mostly Orge Magi. I love Ranged troops especially early in the game due to less loss of meelee troops. I used to go with Orge Magi, but they are slow and a ranged troop can pick them apart before they get across the battle field.
Simply put 10 Cyclops will rape 10 Orge Magi anyday !

Is that real people or the AI when you are playing. Much of the time the AI selects which type of structure to build simply by what it has the resources for and can build *NOW*. It does no looking ahead to figure out that it does not yet need that fifth level mage tower with a 2nd level hero and that if it waited a turn or two it could build a more crucial structure.
You'll often find that AI will select Ogre Magi for that reason. They will also often select golden golum and nagas for the same reason. IMO, all of those choices are wrong:-}}

I disagree about golden golums I always build golems instead of weak magi.
Golums make great blockers for you ranged troops or heroes.
They are also decent meelee troop, plus the have 75% magic resistance and mechanical, only thing bad about them is they are slow.
Only thing magi are good for is poison.

I also disagree with the golems thingy!
I sometimes too take golems, but never ogar magi!
as for the golems,it doesn't matter much actually, cuz once u get dragon golems and genies u can race around the map and u can't bring either magi or golems anyway...
but golems are a lot more useful early on...
but seriously,ogars over cyclops?ur kidding,right?

Golems are actually a good and obvious choice.

Wow, saying Golems and naga are wrong choices. It's all a matter of opinion. If someone bashes you for choosing orge magi over cyclops then they don't have their priorities strait.

Not only do I always choose the Cyclope when playing Might, I also always wait to attack stacks of Cyclopes on the adventure map until I have enough creatures so I won't have to fight them, just let them flee. Same with Water Elems, Genies and similar. I just hate loosing troops. I do the same thing with weaker shooters early in the game, and some flyers. Walkers I can defend against, but it's harder to fight ranged creatures, esp. if you don't have any spells, fast flyers (Angels, BDs) or powerful shooters yourself...

I do not think Cyclops are such bad units, especially considering their ranged abillity and their siege abillity. As said before, I will certainlly prefer to fight other same level units on the adventure map (like unicorns, or nightmares) than to face up a bunch of angry one eyed tall men who don't wish me the very best. They are very good as support units, also. Behind a wall, they can do wonderful things, such as kick the enemy's arse with minor losses. And, especially when, in the same town, the other option you have when picking cyclops is Ogre Magi (jesus man, who would have belived that they will regress so much from heroes 3 to 4), then all your questions are answered.

As a matter of fact I also choose Ogre Magi. Cyclops are too expensive...(especially when you do not have money). Cyclops' ranged attack is good, but i stiil prefer Ogre Magi's "Bloodlust"

Whenever i get my arse kicked by a load of cyclopes and then fight the same amount of oger magi and kick their arses with little difficulty it strikes me, CYCLOPES KICK ARSE, they really do!
'And then the sword of frost and armageddon's blade clash, a blinding flash. Another turn of the page.'
In that opening intro is it Queen Catherine and either kreegan or kilgor?

It's Kilgor and Gelu.
The chick is Emilia Nighthaven from the Order campaign.
Cyclops has gotten progressively better in every game. I dread to think what they'll be like in H5!!!!

Thanks for that mate, and i did recognise the chick in the intro, who i assume is new to the series (i completed the order campaign). I just needed to know some background stuff. I thought kreegan was the one who built armageddon's blade (from what i have read anyway)
