*** Laelth's New Map: Boggle ***
After several months of careful thought, and several weeks of rather intense labor, I am proud to announce my newest map: Boggle. It should be posted on the ToH Maps Page soon. Here's a look at the mini-map:
Boggle is available for immediate download at Laelth's HOMMaps: http://www.vandea.com/homm/maps.html. This is from the readme file:
Quote: "Boggle (4 Player Allied)" is an open, controlled-access map, marked by beautiful but confusing topography. You have two routes through which you can access your ally's territory. Both are on the surface. Through the portal near your home town, only heroes may pass. Across a marshy island that you and your ally share, all but your level 4 creatures may pass. You also have two routes through which you may access your enemies. Both are below ground. Through the "pillars of death" all but your level 4 creatures may pass. Through the middle of the underground chambers, however, your entire army may pass once you and your ally pay the master architect his fee. He requires 400 ore and an "Amulet of the Undertaker" which you can acquire by visiting all five of your oracles. Both you and your ally must pay the architect in order for him to help you by giving full access to your enemies. Be forewarned that it's unwise to attempt to visit another player's keymaster. The tents in the swamp are well guarded.
This is my first attempt at an allied map. A 2-player version is forthcoming, but my intent was to create a map that allowed for a highly-interactive, online, allied gaming experience. Hope you enjoy it.

What a good idea, insa! You'll notice that starting heroes on this map have 2 sets of "Boots of the Crocodile" already in their posession. These get deleted if the player is chaos aligned so that they can't be given to an ally.
Other suggestions?

I'm not sure I know, exactly, what you're asking insa. I deleted the boots from the chaos hero, primarily, to penalize chaos a bit on a map that's at least 30% their native terrain (it's mostly grass, water, and subterranean). Wouldn't you give the extra boots to lords or other heroes that aren't in your main army?
a bit confused ...

well, valky, the chaos penalty is to compensate the other alignments for the fact that their native terrains do not appear on the map. there's no snow at all, for example. most of my maps have been accused of demonstrating a huge chaos bias. so, i was determined to avoid that criticism on this one.

played..
with camoes, barb vs barb(randomly)
We ended relatively soon though, cause due to getting late on pathfind and having a retreat, i stayed behind so i felt like risking and went after his life dude ally, to get glove, spells, arties.. (i had death ally, argh..)
..then im tombstone
Is no secret that pattern is similar to colhearted map, but stretches more because of underworld and difficulty to reach opponent
Interesting, though long maps tire me, specially cause it involves lot of walking, idle time and many routine fights..Very intersting in pathways- where to go first and such. I think apart aesthetics, laelth maps have that 'organize logistics' high difficulty, which is the main reason to be considered quality maps.

thanks, insa, for the feedback. always appreciated.
coldhearted ends up being a six-week map for me, usually. was this game longer? i'd like to adjust the requirement for passage into enemy territory if it's too high.
