Poll Question: Distruction and Weather( will it every be)
Well where there ever be map distruction and weather events im Homm. Personally everybody has different points of veiws I think there should be a option for weather events like you can choose the battle grids.
Weather Event Options
Rain: Give a little exictement to your battle
Blizzards: On snowy areas there should be blizzards which make travel harder
Ocean Storms: Whril pools in the ocean or just tropical storms to make river travel
Destruction Events
Earthquakes: Can block your paths to victory
Monsoons: Just a fun option to be stupid
Hurricaines: Not a good idea
Rock Slides: Great to block paths and different map moves
So vote maybe this thread will be inspiring for 3do
Follow the Dragon Leader to victory ( Also give ideas on different weather sitituations for the game and will see if they work thanks

Weather in heroes
Hmm i play lots of different strategy games but the one that adds the most from weathers got to be shogun.
This is only in battles mind but this is how it works:
The attacking player gets to decide the day to attack on (this is important as weather effects troops in different ways) while the defender gets to set up his troops however he wants.
So this is how i would like weather to act in heroes (probably heroes 5 now oh well ) Id like there to be hills on battlefields too so you gain a shooting advantage form standing higher up.
Heres weather types and how they could effect the battle
Heavy rain: would decrease fire spells ability (this goes for fire type units as well) and slows most creatures down especially ground troops (not so much flyers and cavalry).
Water type creatures would benefit and there speed would not get effected by rain. Archer units (ones that use bows anyway) would not be as effective.
Fog: I think fog would really work in battles of heroes (especially if theres still evil fog) this would cover all troops up so you dont know what the enemy has (This would be superb as maybe you could use your units well so a larger enemy might run from the unknown) Fog would slow down all units a few squares (bar things like trogs) and you would only be able to make out the unit totally clearly a few squares away from you unit (maybe you could make out what type the unit is from further away but not the numbers?)
Strong wind: This could really delay flyers (half there movement?) as well as improve air type spells. Archers would do less damage and be alot less accurate (the further away the enemy the larger the percentage that they miss totally or do much less damage.
They could be alot more different types of weather effects too like snow (um thats all i can think off ) but the important thing is not all of these could happen as it depends on what type of map you are fighting over (ie desert, lava, grass and all the rest) so they wont be any chance of snow in desert.
Hmm maybe actually instead of choosing a day there could just be a % chance of a type of weather effecting you in that battle (10% chance of sand storm in desert kind of thing) So what do yous think of this idea?
(I really want hills (and mountains?) areas in battle too for more tactics!)

This is kindof a cool Idea, it would help us get over the stoic hush of the current game. The current game has too many hard edges, not enough curves and smooth places. This game would lead to not hardness.

It would be nice, and would add an element of realism to the game.

You look that far back? That's impressive. Weather would make the game more dynamic, and is applicable now that we think we know where the Heroes series is headed, rather than just shooting in the dark.

Weather might be an interesting idea if it had some kind of in battle impact such as -1 speed or something like that (kind of like weeks of X only could be terrain specific) but the destruction events are uniformly a bad idea. Randomly altering fundamental features of the map such as passability is simply going to ruin many games, not enhance play. If you want variable terrain to play on and don't like fixed maps, use the random generator.
