Creature artifact
In HoMM4 the creatures can carry artifacts, but what if they could use them?
What if the creatures could use artifacts? Wouldn't that be cool?
Maybe just some special ones, not all...

but how do 1000 skeletons share a axe of power?
how can 3 black dragons hold a devine shield?
maybe some creature artifacts that are in great number..
i.e. chain mail.. increase all level 1-2 creatures hp by pts for first 100 units
after 100 men die your artifact is gone.

I totally disagree with you, Morphy. It's just noncence to give creature an artifact. Still, you could give a mage a potion of mana to use. That wouldn't be a noncence.

How would you explain a legion of peasants share one longsword??

This is irrelevant. Heroes 1-3 did just fine with artifacts affecting the Hero, and the Hero affecting all units under his command.
Artifacts on creatures seems like a logical step to make, but there are a few problems. The easiest solution, letting creatures equip all artifacts, at first seems seriously imbalancing, but actually has a certain elegance to it. Of course, some changes would need to be done on the tiering of creatures for this to work properly.

Wait a minute...
there COULD be some artifacts fo creatures. Like "RINGS OF VITALITY" that increase HP of all creatures in the stack by 1. That's like in homm3, only affect one unit.
For EX.: It would be more useful to put an artifact like this onto halfling that on a black dragon.
Also, I re-thought my opinion, and I now think that there should be more abilities to give creatures artifacts only named in plural.
For EX.: 1000 skeletons BATTLE AXES. Gives +2 attack to every skeleton in the stack.
That's my NEW opinion... and I think it is good

In HoMM 2 and 3 (never played nr.1) the hero's army is affected by the artifacts, because the hero himself have no use in attack points, etc.
So what I meant is that they could make artifacts that can be given to the creatures, so they can have for example more HP, spell points, attack and defense points, etc.
You see what I mean?
In HoMM4 almost every artifact bonus is given to the hero and your army doesn't get any effect of the artifact.
So, back to my thread, creatures should be allowed to use some artifacts, or maybe just some special artifacts only made for the creatures...

This could all be easily solved if they bring the HOMM3 Primary Skills back. Then most of the artifacts will be equipped by the hero and affect both hero AND creatures.

If we let creatures use artifacts, the heroes would become pointless. I think Heroes should only use artifacts and maybe some artifacts could be used by towns like Legs of the Legions, or Head of the Legion. But creatures shouldn't be able to use artifacts.

What if there are artifacts wich would benefit one particular creature, but would be worn by the hero, of course. Wouldn't that be interesting?
These kind of artifacts will be useless if you don't have that type of creature in your army, but should you by any chance have one of those, boy, you'll be invinsible.

The hero wouldn't become pointless... The "creature artifacts" would'nt be so powerfull... just give em' a little boost. The hero would still be the only one with real good magic and/or strength specialities...

Very good ideea about creatures wearing artefacts....The game will become more complex and interesting...but...those artefacts must be equilibrated because i don't want to imagine any kind of dragon wearing armagheddon's blade

I have another ideea.
How about any hero of a certain type would have a skill that improves the creatures from his type of town? And, with increasing experience, the creatures will become more powerful. And, of course, do not expect a barbarian to boost up, let's say, tower units. No. His skill will be useful with only the creatures from stronghold. And so on.

I think that there should be artefacts for towns. There should be a governor for town (not a hero) which would work in UPG tavern. He should keep artifacts like Loins of Legion, Arrow Tower Arrow or Impacted Orb of Fire, which could increase damage of fire-based spells by 25% of the defending hero of the town(that was my invention for WoG). There should be more artifacts for towns or creatures.
P.S. BTW I think creatures shouldn't move without hero. So the artifacts could only be given by the hero.

So you're saying that you wouldn't have creatures moving around with no hero, like in HoMM3. But wouldn't you like to give the creatures a little part of the artifact bonus?
Cos' in HoMM4 there's very few artifacts wich does not only affect the hero.
So, would you like to have the HoMM3 mode in HoMM5, where creatures also get Upgraded attack skills if the hero does?
I mean, if they're stuck to their hero anyway...

No,no,no you misunderstood. They should only be picked by a hero and then the hero decides whether give this artifact to this creature, whether to another one. But yes, I would like to hav H3 mode of creatures not moving without hero. Only you could hire freelancers (like in Wog) to "creep" the creatures from the lands (without givin' experience to the hero).

Yes. The hero have to pick it up first and then pass it on to his creatures. I agree. And you dhould also be able to have freelancers on your hero without sharing experience. (Maybe you should have an option; share, not share experience..)
But the creatures should be moving, like in HoMM4.

No. If a stack dies, but the army wins, artifact goes to the hero. That's only my opinion. Feel free to disagree.
