Cheaters are not welcome !?!
If anyone uses secret codes to play any game ( especially HOMM3) that's not a real player. What is your opinion about cheaters?
I know a guy ( a friend of mine called GAGA )who playes exclusively with cheats. Has he the right to call himself a HOMM3 player?

Well, theres many angles to the situation.
I for 1 stay away from them for much of the time. Infact i hardly ever do use codes. ALthough I'm tempted to to redo the campaines i already did (lost hard drive).
its still fun playing Gelu campaine for real. And I dont auto load accept for 1nce cuz of an unrealistic situation.
but if I just want to play, and use codes, then theres no prob with me playing with codes. GTA3, dam better belive i use codes sometimes but i dont even play it anymore.

Even though this subject has been discussed over and over again, I can't help it! Cheaters are a so low class of imbeciles who cannot achieve anything by their own means. Only by being a cheater you lie everybody arround you, and, what's most important, you lie to yourself. What can be worse than that? It's like being an alcoholic who says everyday "That's the last glass I'll drink, from now on, just sober".
This friend of yours must be out of his mind playing EXCLUSIVELY with cheats. What does he get out of it? The fun of finnishing a map and seing in the Hall of Fame (for him it must be the Fall of Fame) the world Cheater standing right next to his score? Or the good sensation of telling his friends "hey, did you finish <insert map name here>? I did and it was easy like hell. Damn, those mapmakers are doing a lousy job lately!"
I belive that cheating isn't just lying, but not showing the much deserved respect for all those who spent monts and years thinking and working hard for the benefits of the gaming community. I say if it is too dificult for you cheaters, then let it go, grow up and start fishing. You can cheat there too, by throwing a grenade or a rocket (see South Park) into the lake, hoping that the fish don't wear bullet proof vests.
BTW, does your friend ever scored with a woman without using some hypnotising devices, or some big bad voodoo magiks?

I don't want to get disposed of this topic....
First of all, dear doomnezeu I agree with you regarding your opinion about cheater. This friend of mine has specific charms even with women. His records recomend him.Rumours are saying that his is not a cheater with women.
Maybe he uses "SLOW" or something when he attack a woman...
Neverthereless he's weird.

If someone is playing a game of Heroes on their own (i.e., single player), I feel they can play any way they want to. In a game with someone else it would be dishonest to use codes or other cheat unless both players agreed to it (for some strange reason).
Personally, I don't even like reloading in single player, let alone using cheats, so I rarely even reload if I make a mistake.
Cheat codes are invaluable for testing maps and for testing WoG scripts, however, so I use them all the time for that. But those are just tests (sometimes day 1 repeated over and over again for example) and not proper games.
I do know a few Heroes players who have told me that they <I>sometimes</I> use cheat codes to help them finish a hard map or campaign, just so they can see how the story ends. That sounds reasonable, although I doubt I would do it myself.
Is someone a "real player" if they play with only cheats in a single player game? Well sure, but it's highly unlikely they're getting as much out of the game as someone who doesn't use cheats; they're missing out on the whole challenge aspect of the game. But if that's what they enjoy, they're still playing the game--just not the way the majority of people play it. For most people, I would think that using cheats all the time would get incredibly boring before too long. For really young players (age 6 or 7 perhaps) it might continue to be fun for longer.

It is a matter of self respect. Even if you play in a single player mode....you're "stealing your own hat"

I partially agree with you about testing. But that's a VERY different story. Testing is not playng. Playng solo is not an excuse for envolving cheats, if you know what I mean. I can't just lie to myself and say hey, there's no one in my room and this is a tough enemy hero, how about a little extra for my army? But hey, this is my point of view. I prefer not to cheat, in any condition, whilst playing. As I sad before, playing is not testing.

Hey BURCUSH.
What are discussing about? Cheaters?
"If a player cheats, he's a cheater, not a real player".
But what's the point of the discussion? If a player wants to, he can cheat. It is his own right, aight? I see also, that there is a thing in HC that appears to be a site of cheats, so I think many of us don't mind cheaters.
I repeat, if he wants to, he can cheat. And there is nothing to blame him.
Two years ago, whilst I didn't know how to play H3, I cheated too... But I some kind of "grew out" of it.
So my main answer: cheaters?! I Don't mind!

In my humble opinion, cheats are only useful in 3D action games (which I play so rarely anyway). You get all weapons, full ammo, unlimited health and start smashing all those foolish enough to stand on your way - a good idea if you're angry with smb/smth but don't want to hurt that smb/smth But when playing a strategy game, I just can't find a use for cheats. When I play single player, I play for my own satisfaction, not to show my Hall of Fame to some other afterwards. And I think it's pretty obvious that once you use a single cheat, the satisfaction and pleasure vanish completely and immediately. So I could never understand those who cheat in the single player mode. The multiplayer cheaters can be understood, but that's simply bad and dirty.

You mean you finished all the campaigns in a few hours with cheats? or without?
If without, then I'm pretty sure it's impossible, it takes a bit longer, at least a full day even if you know exactly where to go and what to do... I myself finished it in about 4 days or so... having played some of the campaigns before

Yeah! Sometimes I like to get all weapons (still, no god mode. And, no reloads - no need) in Heretic I and pass one level - good thing to relax!

I must say that a cheater is just a player that does not have skills and use cheats because the game simply burn him. a cheater is not a player, just a game viewer. and i tell you something: with cheats you dont enjoy because the excitement of the game is the challenge.
Hail to doomnezeu....you are the best!
