HEROES V: SPELL SYSTEM

I thought it interesting and wise to use our dear Marelt’s proposal to get the effect of spell increased by the spell power skill. Personally, I’d like to have his proposal, but I thought a new feature: spell effect increased by achieving a level. For example, your hero would have to achieve an upper level, in order to get a new effect in addition to the old one and or an increased one to the corresponding spell. Effect is given automatically when the corresponding level is achieved. Though, the name of the spell is not changed.

Actually, there would be one more thing - learning of spells. Each level of spells should be aligned with a level you have to achieve, if you want to learn the spells of that level. Still, if you do not have, for example, Advanced Order Magic, but you have the corresponding level, you cannot learn level 2 spells, till you’ve reached the Advanced Order Magic. If you want me to explain this in easier way, here: 1st spells should be learnt when the hero is level 1, 2nd level spells when the hero is at least level 2, 3rd level spells when the hero is at least level 4, 4th level spells when the hero is at least level 7 and 5th level spells when the hero is at least level 11. Still, as I said before, if you want to gain a new or increased effect, you have to reach the corresponding level.

Yes, it would be complicated, but more interesting.

You may agree or disagree. Just try to explain your opinion.

Well some of your ideas is not so baadd.. Actualy I would like (REALY LIKE) that heroze5 having magic/combat skill tree like in DiabloII. So if you will specialize hardly for example into DeathRipple spell, it could be more powerfull then simple ChainLighting. So i would like every skill have point-slots. Every hero who gain level, takes 5 points in primary attributes : strenght, dext, wisdom or whatever (maybe sexual appeal) , and one point into skill. So you can learn new skill, or enchant your existant skill.

COOL, that would make heroze much much more interesting

OK, regnus. Interesting proposal, but let me ask you something: Why do you want to make heroes levels conditions for spell effects and learning spells? What advantages would that bring to the game?
Personally, I think increasing spell effectiveness through gaining levels worked until now with the spell power. It is better that way because for e.g., in your case, if you have a barbarian hero and a wizard hero, then both of them would cast the spells with the same effect. The distribution of power-ups in A/D/SP/K when gaining a level adds more to diversity of heroes, and makes distinction between magic and might heroes.

The second option, to tie learning high-level spells with hero levels, I find unneccessary. Because by the time the hero has level 5 magic school of some kind, then he is in most cases a hero of high rank. Even if you put the prerequirement level for level 5 spells a bit higher, don’t you think it’s fairer that a hero who had invested experience in some Magic School, and neglected the other skills, be allowed to learn level 5 spells even though he doesn’t have the required level.

And the one thing I can say i truly like is the idea of a skill tree, which will make the skills more connected with each other and with some prerequirements. Plus, it will be possible to make valuable skills harder to achieve than others less useful.

Maybe your right, but mine's just an opinion

I think I changed few things in here, this system would fit to Might & Magic more, but I think there is going to be no new or continue game for M&M series. I find it was pretty good game series, though.

I think my opinion, would add more complications, but more interest an more new things. There would be more RPG, though.
