Cavalry vs Infantry
Shouldn't it be that Cavalry has a slight advantage against Infantry?? Post every thougt, please. Even negative ones. I mean, The cavalry is on the back of a creature, getting more power and speed.

You have a point. But then again, logically large stacks of infantry creatures kills the cavalry quite quickly before they can deliver certainly much damage. This reminds me of something though...
Mounted creatures already has a quite good advantage against infantry since they can engage in battle more quicker than infantry.

Yeah, but then, the program would take that in mind when "rolling the dice".

You'd also think it'd be harder to hit a cavalry since it's riding the creature while the infantry is walking on th ground. So therefore, the cavalry would also have the "upper" hand so to speak right?

Yes, That's something like my thought. Should it be hard to make it that way in, say homm5?

However
If the infantry has pikes or halberds, they have the tendency to get the cavalry unseated and then the horseman is at a decided disadvantage.
That's in the real world.
In the world of HOMM, the cavalry gets the charging bonus and absolutely devastates the infantry.

Yes, but a little undocumented feature of H3 is that Pikemen (and I think Halberdiers too) ignore the charging bonus of Champions.

Yes, but is it possible to do a thing like that in homm5? It would be nice to see.

then if it were possible that the Cavalry could be "unseated" would that then make them like ordinary swordsmen? It would be even more interesting if the now, bare-backed horse could attack as well as the unseated rider.

if you you should be able to dimount the rider and then have the horse etc attack it previous rider or at least become a ai unit on the field attacking who ever get closest but mounted units should only get advantages when not on a horse they should be a lot weaker think about it to ride the horse they would need lighter and therefore weaker weapons and armor

Well, in many games I have seen so far there were some infantery units that were given bonuses when facing cavalery.
Remembar AoE? Pikemen were nasty when fighting war elephants and other cavalery.
You could implement stuff like this, let's say:
Pikeman
Damage *-*
+* bonus when fighting Champions

I think the pikemen/halberdiers vs cavaliers/champions bonus is already there without WOG.

Yes, I think Fnord said that. But what about the other towns? that's just castle. What about, say necropolis. they have a rider, black/dread knight, but they don't have a "spearman". I think that if this idea will work, every town must have some sort of "spearman"

Actually, it all depends on the weapons used. If the horsemen use lances or the like, then they have a decided advantage. However, if the infantry have the spears, they can kill the horse, and a horseman is as useless on the ground as a Swordsman would be on a Warg. If they both use close weapons (ie swords, axes) then the infantry would win by sheer force of numbers. It's easier to give a guy a sword and tell him to kill than to give him a horse and sturrups and riding training and so on and tell him to kill. Overall, infantry tend to have the advantage over cavalry.
