Newbie Tips
Well if you don't know i'm a newbie to heroes and am current playing heroes 3. I have finished the tutorial but now i want to start playing normal missions. I played the realms of chaos which the Hydra started for me ages ago and got whitewashed so i want to know what mission should i do and what starting base should i use.

Start with the Campaigns from Restauration of Erathia. They are fairly easy and are a good point to start your heroes experience. After you finish those, you can play the single maps provided by 3DO with Heroes, then the other campaigns (from AB, SoD), then you can venture on the internet to find some really good, but difficult maps.
Or you can always try the multiplayer way, it is shorter

Well the Hydra was just telling me that I shouldn't try campaigns yet as they would be too hard and I should go for easy missions until i gert better. Who should i believe?

Start the campaign. What have you got to lose? There not that hard anyway.

Well i Guess i may as well but what starting base should i use? If it doesn't turn out well for me in campaigns then it's back to the missions.

I think you should start with cleaning out the Heroes III: Restoration Of Erathia campaigns from the beginning (starting with the campaign called "Long Live The Queen"). As mentioned before, the Restoration Of Erathia campaigns are easy even for a novice player. By the time you finish all 7 campaigns, you will have played all the towns (which you call "bases") that there are in the game. The Armageddon's Blade and further expansion packs provide a new town called Conflux, which you can also see (and play for) in Armageddon's Blade campaign. In my opinion, playing the campaigns is the best way to learn about the towns. For advanced practise, consider playing in normal single player mode. Start from those marked as Easy, eventually increasing the difficulty of the maps and the difficulty level that you choose.

Quote: Start with Single Scenarios, Campaigns are too hard for a noob to play.
But the campaigns are construated that way, a beginner learns everything step by step....in scenarios, there could be presumed to much knowledge about some details, which one doesn´t know....
Normaly every game is made by this......play first tutorial for the very first steps......then play campaign for campaign (normaly they also have an increasing degree of difficulty)......and when you´ve finished them all, your basic wisdom of the game is layed.
With the scenarios afterwards, you can rarefy your style and your knowledge....
When you think you are IN the game, then try multiplayer and you´ll see you will enter a completely new world of gameplay....(own experience....)

Well i am just about to start campaigns now, however I was looking though a faq/walkthrough of the campaigns and it puts a campaign called Liberation as the first campaign, but that is not on the selction screen and plus Odvin said that I should play Long live the queen first which is the second campaign in the walkthrough. So where is liberation?

"Liberation" is not given for choice at the beginning.
Only "Long live the queen", "Dungeon and devils" and "Spoils of war".
Play them in that order, then you will learn how to play with the different town types. After you have finished these 3 campaigns, you´ll be allowed to play the next 3.
After the last campaign, normaly the campaigns seem to be finished all....but that´s not true..
You will save the end of the last campaign, then a small video will appear and then it´s over....but it isn´t...
When you´ve finished the last campaign and see your score in the highscore list, go back to the main menu and load campaign...the last save you´ve made, then you can see the "choice" menu of the campaigns and their is down below a hidden last campaign (forgot about the name...)
Hard one but good one....
