- It doesn't have to be Hydras. With sprites, you can CLEAR single stack of neutral creature guarding something like: Crusaders, Nagas, Unicorns, Ogre Magis, or even Behemoths!!! Of course don't expect to get exp from that battle.......
I think I'll pass. Why waste time fighting for no exp?

it is still useful for fast-break on clearing mine entrance, expanding territory limit, getting resources, artifacts, flagging low level creature dwelling, etc etc
but this sprite tactic is denied in equilibris since now neutral stack always divided to a minimum of three stacks

As battle advances, and one side has supreme power (say, x# of lvl 4 creatures vs. 1 lvl 1 creature), doesn't the morale of the inferior army sink and vice versa? And won't this spoil this tactic?

The morale sink for the army that loses HP. The other army gains morale. When you kill more and more of the enemies the sprites morale will rise, and the enemy morale will drop. Actually it is very important to drop it to 0. There isn't any risk after that.

But have you thought this sprite thing in opponents eyes if you fight and kill let me say even 5 hydras it would take pretty long. So how long would you be ready to wait your opponent when he waits a battle like this. Thank god it is fixed in newest mod. I don't see anything good in that sprite wait and hit and escape thing.

Now i don't know about you guys, but i don't want any of those robots in my home. Who knows that the robot has built-in algorythms like:
IF DATE = 1 AND MONTH = 1 AND YEAR = 2100
THEN
LABEL 00
GRAB LASER GADGET
ACTIVATE LASER GADGET
IDENTIFY ORGANIC SUBSTANCE THAT MOVE
POINT LASER GADGET TO SUBSTANCE
PULL THE TRIGGER
GOTO 00
END IF
That'd be no good. It'd shoot everyone it sees then just stand there waiting for someone else to come along. Have to add something like:
GOSUB GRAB LASER GADGET
LET TARGETS=INT(ORGANIC SUBSTANCES THAT MOVE)
DO WHILE TARGETS>0
ROUND%=1 to TARGETS
POINT LASER GADGET TO TARGET(ROUND%)
GOSUB PULL TRIGGER
NEXT ROUND%
LOOP
IF TARGETS=<0 AND AUDIO<>""
MOVE TOWARDS SOUND
ELSE
LET DIR=INT(RND*360)+1
GOSUB MOVE (DIR)
END IF

Wups! I was going to add something that was on topic, but I got tied up reminiscing about programming silly stuff.
There's not many situations wherein the sprite hit+run tactic can be effective to the degree of the hypothetical 100-hydra dash. I really like the sprites having that potential though, the speed+no-retaliation thing means that occasionally they can actually be useful in the late game. Previous incarnations of the sprite (before simultaneous striking) could be useful in stacks of 600. They could attack and pack quite a punch. Once. Then they die.
Now they can hit AND run, making them worth what you pay for them. They can tip the scales by attacking tough ranged opponents (titan, cyclops, etc.) instead of only being useful against weak rangers (elves, etc.). I'm happy that they finally have a use.

Sprite hmmmm.......
I use Sprite as scouts cuz of their speed. I always nicknamde it the "butterscout". Using them as scouts are good and I won 51% cuz of these sprites. Sprites in hordes?? That's deadly.

Spites and Hit & Run
There are some posts here which overrate them. Of course, hit and run can be powerful, but it can work only vs. slow monsters or at least with really good hero support.
Claiming that you can use this tactic against Behemoths, Crusaders, Hydrae and Berserkers (to name a few) is pure nonsense. These creatures are too fast (either in movement or speed or both), there are also morale problems in the beginning. Of course, if you bring a hero around to slow the monsters, that's different. But still not THAT usable.
