The Titans were a race of gods who were the parents and precursors of the Olympians. They were defeated by this younger generation of deities, who were led by Zeus. The ancient Greek poet Hesiod, in his Theogony, claims that the goddess Gaia first gave birth to Ouranos, then mated with him to produce these offspring. Later, Ouranos was to name his children Titans, which translates into overreachers. So therefor "Titans" is just a name that refers to the pre-olympian gods.

The point
Yes, I know Uranos and Gaia emerged from Chaos, which was before everything else.
Uranos and Gaia were barely defined as "Earth" and "Sky". At first sky was part of Gaia, then they split.
Believe or not, but the point was:
it's silly to take unit statistics LITERALLY from mythology

Quote: Believe or not, but the point was:

i am starting to feel that i would like to ask: is there any such thing as sizes of titans in mythology?
atlas should carry earth on his back. yet he was the same size as human-sized herakles.
or at least atlas went away for a while and herakles carried earth until atlas was back. on the other hand, herakles walked on earth without any danger of falling off the edge.
i don't think that this can be done without contradictions if we assume that herakles carried earth on his back like you lift a stone from the ground.
modern people often think that those ancient myths were naive dreams of primitive people.
i think that, more often than not, myths are so sophisticated that imho modern people have no reason to be so arrogant about them.
if the greek agreed upon sizes of titans in their mythology, it would imho be interesting to know, no matter how large they will look in the game.
========
how many knights can beat a dragon.. usually one heroic knight or paladin could.
i don't know any myths where people went to fight a dragon with an army, maybe some other people know of such myths? maybe fighting a dragon alone was honorable? maybe the dragon was a symbol of something that a knight would have to defeat e.g. in his personality?

I dont tink that the sise of the titans was ever described, and i dont think they all looked the same. Not all of them had a humanoid form (i think), so therefor i agre with you......beside who gives a damn.

Titan and dragon size
Luckily we now now titan is the same size as Herakles, or roughly 180 cm tall (the size of a large man in ancient greece). As for how they managed to carry earth its simple -- first Atlas was doing handstand on the ground, later on Herakles did the same, and who is to prove that if they wouldnt have done it then earth wouldnt have moved (i.e fell).
Even better luck is that there is more reference about the size of dragon -- St. George used to fight one and several medieval artists managed to capture the action on a painting. Different versions can be seen at

However, common is the agreement that dragon measures as something between a large dog and a small cow.

Herakles carried the Sky, not Earth - preventing it from falling down.
By the way, Herakles is a son of Zeus. So he's a demigod.

right about atlas, he carried the sky.
========
what was the origin of such large dragons as we are used to? was it only that dinosaurs were the inspiration to modern fantasy writers?
there were myth stories about giants and extra large human heroes, giant sea snakes and krakens, leviathan that could swallow a ship, etc. even a giant beanstalk that reached the sky. why should the dragons and titans have been so tiny?
during journey home odysseus met a cyclope for whom humans were the size of his foot, as far as i remember.
http://pages.cabrini.edu/jzurek/Homer/odyssey09.htm
cyclope is indeed depicted larger than humans. and i guess titans were at least about the same size as cyclopes. or maybe titans were smaller than the greek giants?
in ancient and medieval art size and proportions weren't always depicted realistically. if we wanted more modern art style for the game, like homm4 did, we would probably have to increase the size differences like in homm4 vs homm3. another point that speaks against modern style imho.
