Sweet memories: Heroes 1

Feeling nostalgic tonite: anyone remember those long lasting hours of playing HoMM 1?

When ur hero could fight wif u...
first crashing a bear cave and then the bigger things, like... help me out peoples.

I was truely addicted to that game. Was a student when it came out (1994, '95. dunno anymore) and I was living on the 9th floor of a building wif no elevator; There were times when I only came out 2 or 3 times a week.... Hahaha those were the days...

Memories...

They are often more golden than reality were...

I did enjoy playing Heroes 1 and what was so strange about it was it's originality...
You could feel that this game is something really unique when compared to other fantasy themed strategy games.

I remember that I got the game at christmas. When school started after christmas holidays, I had to give the game to my friend so instead of playing it myself I could go to school in the first place...

After that I've been hooked to it.

H1

I recently downloaded Heroes 1 to try out again. WOW did i forget where this game started.  It sure has come a long way since then. Although superb in its time, it lacks much of what todays Heroes is.

But i must say H1 now keeps me occupied during long lunches at work...... i mean at home.

it`s all started from one 3 am phone call !   2 of my friends had bought the game at 3pm  the previous day... They played 10 hours strait then caught in the fun they call me about this great new game.   45 minutes drive and I was there too !  All 3 of us played until 10 pm.  Only interruption was pizza ordering or beer refill.   That was like 6 years ago and I still remember that day like it was yesterday !

it was during my first dental school years that I had that game, and with the stress of school, the game was a way to relax.  Somehow I think the music and ambience was the most alluring part for me, it took your mind off things and kept you from going insane in a sh-thole called philadelphia.

...Ahhhh... I remember.

I was three-four years old, but I already knew how to read and use CPU. Heroes 1 was one of the first games I've played.

Actually, I didn't understand English (I've started learning when I was 5), but my father taught me how to plaay this game.

Do you remember dragon??? That silly pink thing with two horns showed in very low graphics??? Cute times, it had been. Wooshie-wooshie-whoo...

That is probally Heroes of Might and Magic Millenium Edition or Platinum.  They both have Heroes1-3 but Platinum has AB and SOD also where as Millenium only has RoE.  I have Millenium and they work fine on win XP.
