Movie endings
Here it is, a movie ending thread inspired by part of discussion in Worse than 9/11 thread.
Questiones to be examined here:
1.Happy/unhappy endings.Proportion of these, and reason for it.Expectansy and obviousness of them.
2.Movie endings that you will always remember and think
they`re one of the best ever and why.
I have an ending I want to talk about but I don`t have enough time right now so I`ll post it later.

Terminator 2
This is one of my favorite movies, despite the cheesy Arnie quotes
I loved how it ended, it had three distinct 'flavours' to it.
The Happy Ending - where the evil Terminator died, and John Connor lived to fight against the robots in the future
The Sad Ending - where the good Terminator sacrificed himself so the robotics company couldn't salvage him and build the evil robots
The 'To Be Continued.....' bit - whicj is only good IF the movie was good. And T2 was. Just as the movie ends, and Arnies lowering himself into the molten metal, you see the robotic hand with the super computer-chip in it sitting in a vault at the robotics warehouse and you KNOW there'll be a T3.
Pity it took so long.
Pity it was crap.

I just saw one of my favourite movies for the third time, Queen Margaut, and I better write this while my impressions are still fresh.
The last scene shows Margaut in a carrige leaving Paris and all her life behind. She holds the cut head of her lover, who was executed only several hours ago, still soft and warm, wrapped in only a small piece of cloth. Most of it exposed, for the servant boy accompanying her to see the man's expression at the time of death. She doesn't notice that. Her dress is saoked with blood. She has a tired face and at the same time you can see great sorrow and pain in her eyes. The empty look. Out of the wondow. Hope.
At that moment the servent boy says: "Madam, you have blood on your dress."
She remembers the last words of her recently dead brother and says them aloud: "It doesn't matter... As long as you keep the smile."

Now I`ve been asking myself how many movies I`ve seen with
a truly unhappy ending, and I`ve come to an shocking conclusion: none (except one which I`ll talk about later in this post). There are few of them with sort of ambiguos
ending, like a sidekick died with a villain , but the main good guy of course survives.
The one exception truly puzzled me.I don`t know the movie title, and I doubt anyone of you has seen it.
It was several years ago,I got up early , it was something
like half past six in the morning.I remembered tha one of
the local televisions puts on lousy movies whole night.
So I turned on the TV, and watched the last fifteen minutes
of the movie. It was one of those cheap anonymous Hollywood
movies with cheap anonymous actors nobody`s heard of,
and probably will never see again. The first thing I saw
didn`t surprise me very much.It was a badly done fight scene. There were four people fighting.A good guy and
a bad guy in bathroom, and good girl and bad girl in bedroom. You probably wonder how did I konw which ones were
good ones.Well, like always it was preety much obvious
Bad couple wore black leather, had black hair, and
bad guy had a bit longer hair and hadn`t shaved, so he had
little black beard. The good couple on the other hand was a complete opposite. He was clean shaven, nice office-boy brown
hair, and she was like miss America , all cute and tame looking. So they`re fighting wildly like there`s no tomorrow.
Guys in bathroom are swinging with pipes , trying to drown each other, and girls are screaming and scratching and pulling eachothers hair. And so I watched fight with ups and
down for like the minutes.Suddenly bad couple takes the tide
and mange to hit the good ones unconscious, and tide them
up.Next scene is in the bedroom , the good ones are both with tape on their mouths and wrists and skwirming to get loose. Now everbody expects for some kind of deus ex machina
and finally a happy ending, but no!The bad guy starts raping
the good guy`s wife, while he`s agonizing next to them..After he`s done bad couple shoot her in the head and
leave her dead while they start torturing the good guy.
The last comes soon after. It`s the bad couple in their
black car riding to the sunset all with sinister laughs.

well, bad guys have lifes prior to their ends. I guess that was a movie about the mid life of bad guys before they died.
I'll try to think of bad ending movies.
also, i thought T3 was pretty good. I like the fate (well sort of fate) of those 2, very nice.

Dawn Of The Dead/28 Days Later
Both the same type of horror, zombie flick type of thing.
***spoilers***
So in Dawn of the Dead, once thry finally get to the boat and you think it'll be fine. They reach wherever they're going and find............a big bunch of zombies that kill them.
And in 28 days later, they're up in the plane with the cure for the rage virus ready to spray it over London when.............the plane blows up.
Pretty hopeless endings.

The ending of "Dancer in the Dark" was really creepy. When Bjork began to sing it sent shivers down my spine. Every second you expect her to die and yet you hope that they'll release her.
It's really a powerful movie and it's worth watching over and over again. I have already watched it for over 20 times, but i still can't get enough of it.

Thelma and Louise has an amazing ending. After the two women leave home in theyr car, they travel around and enjoy true freedom, the FBI finally gets them. They reach the end of the road, the feds behind them and a canyon in front. Instead of surrendering they drive the car off the cliff into the canyon. Forever free...

Or forever dead
I liked the ending of LotR: RotK.
Why? Because, finally, after almost 10 hours of movie, there is a part that you'll have to read Silmarillion to understand. None of my buddies understood it, and they got really pissed off about it.
Well, there they finally understood how I'd felt through the entire triology when Jackson and his crew was snowing with my favourite book (TT was especially horrible)!
BWAHAHAHAHA! Finally , I got my revenge!!! ;D
*******SPOILER********* (But *everyone's* seen it, so it doesn't matter that much...)
And the ending was kinda beautiful (though a little too sentimental) with Frodo and Bilbo riding off into the West with the Elves and Gandalv.
Btw, anyone but me who wonder what happened to Radagast?

Terminator 2 has the best ending I've ever seen, the THUMB UP from the terminator.
Terminator 3, besides that is kind of funnier than the first two, is a really bad story

It might be odd for you, but I find this movie incerdibly boring. I've started to watch it many times, but never got to finish it to the very end. I dont know why, but I always fall asleep, or some other obligation pops up. My opinion about brave heart - defeinately too much overrated.

I`ve seen Braveheart couple of times from begining to the end, and I also think it`s a bit overrated.
Equilibrium is a nice movie, realy original.I shows that
you can still make good movies with small budgets even if it
is a SF movie.Onlty thing I didn`t like was the ending, which was a totaly predictible cliche.

Blade runner..
in the end, as Roy Batty dies;
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe...Attack ships on fire off the shores of Orion...I've seen c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser Gate.
All these moments will be lost...like tears...in the rain.
