Me play this map too,and its possible to win, with ressurection and other useful spells, like Haste or slow. But you must have Expert Earth or Air Magic,or you can make it with Expert Fire and Water Magic.Aniway, with two of these. If possible with three or even with all.

Hi all -
It has been a while since I updated this map, which I'd like to do. Suggestions for fixes / rebalancing would be appreciated.

Yeah, I can't get from the pheonixe's across to the next bit of land :-P Sander doesn't have scouting, and even with the speculum, he doesn't see far enough into the shroud to open up that bit of land. So I'm stuck...

Hi mate,
No need to update anything, the setup is ok, even for starters. As for the post below ye, there is a hero ye release from Sagymiris' prison that has scouting. No need to burden yerself with a secondary skill that, most of the time, does not help.
(PS: hello, all )

I always wondered about this - my map was released in 2000. Diablo2 was released in 2000 also. I actually never played Diablo2 - and so the name of the map was original. Kind of strange that the same name would appear in Diablo2, don't you think? Just a coincidence? hmm..

Im looking 4 a map to play and always heard of this one...what kind is it? Cause i simply hate those maps where i have to re-load millions of times and adventure map is full with events with attacking creatures out of the reach at the point of getting to the location of the event. Im already playing one of those reload maps=astrogonia.
BTW i dont like Chinese style of maps neither.

I just finished the map, and it's for the "campaing"-type of maps probably the best map I have ever played. (Campaign type, or single player type if you like).
Comparing this map, with the entire set of campaigns from RoE, AB and SoD, this map trumphs all those, not only in the humour department, but also in the quality of serious content.
Though at the end, though the ending is very realistic (in the at least way you'd expect it) and very amusing, I kind of feel the joke was on me, because I'd worked so hard to get this data, that for some reason was so important for this kid (sure he never expected to ruin the fabric of existance, but still...) and for what? For the stupid professor to throw it in the fire or at least that's what I supposed he did, it said he threw it in the flames of his heart or something like that.
Though I do also kind of like the ending, that way you really get personal to all characters and you won't miss the world that much after all, I only feel partly sorry for Jared Morgan (I believe that was his name) for not getting the information he thought important pasted through.
I'd also like some pointers from this Jared Morgan guy on how he could with the army of Albon defeat that huge Necromancer army.
Oh and finally I'd 1537 Mighty Gorgons at the end battle (though let's keep the time secret haha), I got an extra 900 or something like that, because I'd, to begin with a pack down in my area that I decided to keep on growing, and apparantly monsters grows faster and faster, at about the end, they increased with about 60-80 pr. week I believe.
Anyway, the map is great, very much the same atmosphere as when reading a high quality book, which is very positive in my opinion, and I'd certainly recommend it for everyone, though it can get frustrating that not like when you read a book, you'll have to truely battle your way through some of the chapters, and may fail and have to start over.
And then there's sadly the ever present problem with the AI, if you act before you're strong enough, you'll most likely fail and if you outwait the AI, eventhough it gets more power than you pr. time frame, you'll prevail, because it most often divides its powers among many smaller units, isn't taking full advantage of spells and doesn't seem to care much of the stats of the individual hero, so you often ends up facing a hero with about 5 in all stats when you've about 20 on all difficulties.
I like the idea to lock heroes to towns, because that way they have to gather at least for the given town, a problem however is that often the computer decided to run, but with a hero locked in the town, they couldn't rehire the one who ran, and thereby they often would loose a good hero anyway.
I noticed a reference (in parts with the narrator comments in the text-document) that gave me the impression of a similar (at least having a narrator as well) map exists, if I can find it, I may play it through some time as well.
I'll stop this long monotonous talk now, though I'm really fond of the whole concept of the map, the Pirate fleet part, travelling through the swamp part (for some reason my chapter 4 event didn't trigger the first time), the battle against the newly rosen inferno towns, defeating the necromancers and finally taking out LeBlanc himself. (He only had 20 azures in the end, which was less than I expected, I don't know if this is a bug, but I know the army I'd could take out a lot more, especially as the AI often doesn't seem to target gorgons or take DS into consideration (1500 takes about ~150 creatures pr. attack as far as I know)).

Well they had released pre-knowledge of some of the items, though you may never know if someone in there was a fan.

I'm convinced that it was related, it was a nice surprise when I saw the name of that set.
I think one day I will re-install my H3 just to play this map
(can you believe I played Goldheart [best map I played, also by same author] & didn't get around to playing Sander's Folly? lol with tears)

I have been thinking, since the Necromancers seemed much more powerful than the humans at Baron's ford, could it be, that Morgan had an advantage compared to Albin, in the fact that the king was there as well, probably holding the Orb of Inhibition and thereby making the magic powers of Sagimyrus and his mages unuseful?

That's possible. Eric Leblanc also has powerful artifacts, like the Sword of Judgement,Lion's Shield of Courage,Helm of Havenly Enlightenment,Golden Bow...so I think that with the aid of the artifacts and with Jared Morgan's tactics, the undead were defeated.I have a question: How did Leblanc get the Orb of Inhibition in the first place?I know it doesn't matter very much, but I was always curious about this.

Just finished this map. I'm usually not into these story based map, probably cause i usually dont read the stories at all, but going into this one, i knew it was all about the story, and this one was really something. Thanks to whoever made the map.
Btw the final battle was alot harder than i expected, i went into it with very wrong troops(only tower troops), and since i had no gold to buy a new army(moos, ABs etc) i kinda used a loophole(i think it's one) that this map has. U can get the cloak of undead king in the map. Combine that with a necro hero and those pandora boxes in wizard test, u can get around 100k liches

It's a story-driven adventure map. Hard but not too ridiculous.

I made several H3 maps. The reference was probably to my first H3 map, Goldheart, which I'm sure you can find around somewhere. If you can't pm me and I can send it to you. My other maps, sadly, were parts of unfinished campaigns (two SoD maps - The Story of the Fool and the Outpost of Progress; and several WoG maps) but (IMO) they're still worth playing. They have much more detailed stories; I don't know if that's a positive or a negative for you. Most of them are the same "style", with the exception of Story of the Fool, which is a puzzle map. All of them are available at Celestial Heavens.

Could you clarify if your question is about Sanders Folly?

If I find the story good (which I never know before hand. ), then the more detail, often the better, is my experience.

Thanks, I'll check out Goldheart, The Story of the Fool and the Outpost of Progress sometime.

RoE? - Restoration of Erathia. The first version of HoMM 3.
AB? - Armageddon's Blade. The first addon to RoE.
SoD? - Shadow of Death. The addon to AB.
WoG? - In the Wake of Gods. The best one of all, addon to SoD or HoMM Complete (complete = RoE, AB and SoD).
