Toll for repairing maps
Does anybody know how to extract a .h3m map from a savegame .gm1?
After working on a .h3m map for weeks my map got erased.
I have some savegame .gm1 maps from playtesting and hope somebody knows a way to extract the .h3m map from a .gm1 save game.

You poor unfortunate!
I've never known of a way of going from save-game file to map - I thought stuff gets deleted from the save-game file as it's used.
I do know a way that makes it difficult to lose *all* your work - basically, making lots of copies. When I'm working on a map, every time I save it, I increment the number on the end of the filename - goinggold_31.h3m, goinggold_32.h3m, etc. (This also makes it easy to keep track of which version of the map I've sent to which playtesters.)

You cant extract a saved map at all, the map has to be saved in a file not from an actual game.

Thank you for your replies!
Of course, doing regular backups is the way...
I had hopes of restoring the map topology since the save games can be played without the original map...
