At first, you couldn't. I think one of the AB patches allowed for level 1 spells only.

1, Which creature does half damage to its kind, but only to that?
2, A magic elemental fights two psyichic elementals. Who is the more likely to win?
3, A psychic elemental fights three air elementals. Who shall win?
4, 100 grand elves fight 100 evil eyes. Who shall win if the elves are the attackers? Who shall win if the evil eyes? How shall the battle go?

The Evil eyes will win this fight.
They will walk towards the grands and kill them in hand-to-hand fight coz of NO melee penalty..

I assume you're asking about retal. I don't remember seeing this happen before. The only way this can happen is with a stack with one creature who already is almost dead. Anyway, I tested it.
The attacking creature dies from fire shield before the sultan retal. The sultan animation still does the retal, but he retals against air because there is nothing there (look kind of funny). The retal counts against the sultan and he does not retal against a second attack in the same round.

first i was puzzeled about that one, but then i saw the answer in frank's thread on ToH forum(by the same author who asked the question AKA Csarmi).i think this is preety lame. What are u trying to prouve here, man? Checking out if anyone pays attention to your posts?

About the Devil vs Anc Behemoth question... I don't have the game right now to try it, but I would...
1. Open with Disruption Ray
2. Do the Slow dance
Disruption Ray may pay off, as it lasts forever (even when the unit is resurrected from corpse). Each hit will be dealing more damage.
