Mine Quanity Limits?
I know most who read this are going to be like "NO NO NO NO!"
"We must keep HOMM the same with no change."
But if you think about it this could add a lot more strategy and realism. It could also prevent that everlasting non-stopping multiplayer game where people always just sit at there castle gaining resources and creatures.
Or perhaps there could be a setting like movable creatures
you could click it and have mine quanitys.

It's simple as that - if you just sit there gathering troops, you're bound to lose So restrictions of this kind are pointless.

There used to be a plan for HoMM4 where a mine would become exhausted after giving a certain amount of resources, but they never pressed it through. Truth to be told, I don't see a reason either. Your enemy is simply going to steal your mines if you don't protect them, so you have to keep moving.

If you play multiplayer games with this kind of people, implementing limited resources wouldn't make a difference.
They would simply sit there at there castle not gaining resources and creatures.
Perhaps they would exchange a threatening letter once in a while, if they don't lack the courage, that is.

if this were implemented it would make the games longer, there would be no reason to leave your castle because there are no mines out there, so you could stay inside have a beer and wait for the ennemy. (who coincidentaly gets mortally wounded by creep out there)

Once again realism rears its ugly head...
There are already problems in the mid to late game because mines alone cant buy all the top lvl creatures. If you set a limit of, say, 100 wood from a lumber camp then that means there will be no working camps after 3-4 months. I dont know about you but on some big maps (Zanfas) I still need wood after that.
Yes, in the real world mines do have a limit to the amount they can produce, but it takes YEARS to even come close to running out. Some CAMPAIGNS dont last that long.
In short, the only realistic limits would be too high to make a difference, and if they make them really low theyll screw up gameplay on larger maps.

Perhaps add it as a scripting option. The default for a mine would be: "never runs out", but the mapmaker could set a number of days of production, after which the mine no longer functions. As easy as that.

I agree with Marelt_Ekiran.
The only difference is I think it should be a fundamental enough feature that the map editor should have a way to change the mine value without making the map editor open up a script. (ie. include a GUI popup on the mine properties that handles the script changes for you)
