H4 mapmakers please don't use Winds of War
Hi,
is that maybe a controversial title? I love to find and play new maps on the internet, and have always purchased the newest expansions in order to be able to play all of the community-made maps. But in the case of Winds of War, there is a problem that I have, and I expect many other also have. Namely, that it is not possible to buy Winds of War!
I live in Denmark and have been searching the shops, as well as AmazonCom in England, and nope, the game is not to be found, not new, not used. This expansion was never very popular or very well promoted in Denmark, and now with 3DO gone, it seems like the expansion is not being sold anymore. On the other hand, the Gathering Storm is still available.
So if you are a mapmaker, and are about to make a really good map, please consider whether your map really needs the features of Winds of War. If not, please make your map based on, at most, the Gathering Storm, so we all can play it?

If you search maps from toh maps page most of those maps are for regular game but there is few WoW maps too.

thanks, and yes, I know that there are some maps not for WOW, but I also noticed that the newer maps and many that sound very interesting are for WOW only. Sadly for me.

if all else fails, you could try to find a heroes IV complete. I plan on getting both expansions, but i am realy bad at posting my stuff, so if i do, i will make a gathering storm version too.
you could also email the map makers and expalin your predicament.

WoW gives a mapmaker too many new possibilities not to be used.
I am against computer piracy, but if you can not find the original version in shops/auctions I would advise to play a copy (but still searching for the genuine game!).

Well, thanks to E-bay and a pricetag slightly over the original new price for the expansion, I have finally been able to get hold of a copy of Winds of War. Just won the auction bid on Saturday, and am expecting it to pop in the mail box any day now.
So all you mapmakers can go back to making maps with Winds of War again :-)

Good for you, but there are a lot of us (especially in Eastern Europe and Far East) who still cannot find or afford Winds of War.
I cannot ask the mapmakers not to use the expansion, but it really is sad when one is not able to play new maps... especially if they are the best there are, made by Uri Turi himself!

Winds of War took a lot of innovatives. Well, It isn't as good as H3 SoD or AB, BUT, the script system was improved, and the new creatures are useful in maps. So, mapmakers cannot stop usin WoW campaign editor.

Hmmm, actually, now that I finally got a hold of Winds of War, I really haven't even started to play it yet. Oh, I will, I will, one of these days, but I have been spending all my time with Heroes 3 WOG. For some reason, I still find Heroes 3 much more to my liking than Heroes 4.
