Also, many WOGify options don't work for me because of lack of def files. What gives? I thought 3.57f allinone package + 3.58 patch is all I'd need to fully enjoy the game!
Yes, 3.57f + the 3.58 update is all you need (on top of SoD or H3 Complete). Although if you play online and have a newer version of Direct X, you may also need some of the older DLLs from it..see the MP troubleshooting section on the download page).
If you're getting error messages about missing DEF files it must mean that your WoG installation didn't go correctly for some reason. If your computer's language isn't English, did you change it to English (in Regional Settings)?
If the language isn't the problem then it must be another technical issue that caused it not to install correctly on your machine. I don't know what but it must be something. Perhaps removing everything and reinstalling will work.

PTM problems
Quote: I'd play Painted: The Misfit, if I wasn't blitzed with dozens of error messages when trying to
quote]
PTM is a hot map that you can spend insane amounts of time on as there's so much to do if you want. or you can just push hard for your "shadow" or whatever he is & win much more quickly. problem is, sometimes you can't win. map has a number of bugs, though only two, as I recall, are really major issues. but under certain circumstances (circumstances that aren't particularly rare or hard to achieve) the arch-villan can get stuck in a totally inaccessible location.
Anyway, I love PTM and I have brought up many issues I've found with it to people who were involved in its production (the project had a dozen mappers / scripters or something like that), but I think everyone's tired of it and don't want to make the neccessary tweaks.
So, just a warning for any of you out there who are considering playing PTM. Highly recommended, but don't be devastated if you can't put your name on the scoreboard after all the time you've put into playing it.
peace,
John.
