I'm shocked by how many people referred to Thief as a FPS. Even one person saying that would shock me because it seems nothing like a FPS, even if it is First Person.

FPS=First Person Shooter, but could mean First Person Sneaker, which Thief definately is.
But anyway, of all those categories Thief's place should be in FPS, no matter what you mean by it.

Best classic puzzle game: Tetris, the gameboy version
Best 'cute' game: Rainbow Islands
THE BEST GAME of all the time: Everquest
I guess it has to be, even though it isn't that fun all the time and it has by far been the most frustrating game too it has kept my attention for the longest amount of time by far, no other game even comes close. If it had been a single player game it would have sucked, it was that interactivity with other players and the friendships that grew over the years that kept it going. I have a sad sad amount of playtime on this game, it's somewhere around 450 realtime days according to the timer inside the game (and I never left characters in the bazaar over the night to sell things), and then there's all that time spent in front of message boards too. I will never ever again even try another mmorpg, keep away from me World of Warcraft.
Honorable mentions to: Pirates, HoMM 3, Warlords 1 & 2, Hero Quest, Golden Axe, Turtles in Time, Track & Field, Kick Off 2, Sensible World of Soccer, Pro Tennis Tour 2, Stunt Car Racer, Excitebike, Formula 1 Grand Prix, Supercars 2, Diablo, Gauntlet, Simon the Sorcerer, Baldur's Gate, Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder 1 & 2, Fallout 1 & 2, The Krynn and Pool series RPG's, Phantasie 3 : The Wrath of Nikademus, Wings, Prince of Persia, Super Mario Bros, Metroid, Super Metroid, Castlevania, Kid Icarus, Zelda 1 & 2, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Zelda: A Link to the Past, Zelda - The Windwaker, Lemmings, Turrican 2, Deluxe Galaga, Arkanoid 2, Megaman 1 to 3, Bubble Bobble, Car-Vup, Marble Madness
Never played much realtime strategy games, though my brother has those as his favorites, and not much first person shooters either.
