Could be hard to do...
In Homm there's no concept of passing time. Something happens each time you give an order.
Would you have to use dozens of "skip battle" "next turn" "next unit" etc buttons just to watch short replay ?

the actions themselves take time, you could see it as auto-combat. or you could set a delay.Quote: this well make game more popularity with sure.
well, you probably can't say it would make the game less popular. i myself almost never look at any replays in any games, maybe there are some people who do?

It would help you get to know your opponent better by studying his previous games, or analyse your own games and identify your flaws, but as Borsuk said, it would be hard to implement. Furthermore, there might be some players who might not like it to be possible for other people to examine their playing style and special tactics, so I really don't know about popularity.

hmm.. maybe.
about replays being difficult to implement: are you serious? is writing a log file such a difficult task?
strat secrecy point is true, though.
lol, and maybe the game developers don't want to show how stupid the ai is? maybe thet's why we have fog of war in homm4?

It could be easier (and can be already done) just write an utility which stores autosaves somewhere. Then archive&send. Of course, your opponent may not agree to do this, but:
What kind of strategist do you call yourself if you cannot adapt ?

What would be the purpose of replays ? I almost never use to see my old savegames. Maybe replay is good to see when you choose auto (quick) combat ? :|

Replays can't hurt.
I think they would be good addition because it allows a more rapid dissemination of good strategies and helps newbies more rapidly discover what they're doing wrong. You play against someone good, save the replay, and compare. Much easier to figure out why you lost and you can correct it quicker. (If you won, it'll help the other person become a better opponent)
