Problem with RMG.txt on fixed Templets pls..
hi all,
When I'm using RMG.txt(created in data folder) on 3.2 I cant Genrated maps.
When I try to start a new random map game and the rmg try to start genrate the random map i get this error msg:
"Could not creat random map that fit the courrect choices"
no matter what option i choose or what random templet i set on rmg.txt i always get this msg!
more information:
i didnt use(didnt creat it) the RMG.txt at all when i wanted to genrate orginal 3do templets and it works just fine like this but cant use fixed templets that way.
the orginal settings i have set on my heroes folder to enabled rmg is the 4 regular files to the data directory :
h3ab_ahd.snd
h3ab_ahd.vid
h3ab_bmp.lod
h3ab_spr.lod
and the h3blade.exe on the main directory for using rmg
i really need this help so someone pls be kind inufe to help me with this with more details

need some more info here if we r to help.
which rmg file are u using, 1 u download from toh? if so which 1?
also make sure u hav named it correctly.
needs to be Rmg.txt for generator to read it.

the rmg i use
well I try Templets like:
BB,Blance,True Random,Skirmish,MidNight Mix.
I change the txt file name to Rmg.txt and place it on the /Data folder. none of them work to me same error i refer befor.(like i choose option that the templet dont suport only that everyoption i choose i get the same error.
I dont remember where i download them it was long time ago.
there is no problem in 3.2 to use fixed templets?
what about that i didnt use until now this rmg.txt file at all.it work just fine witout it.

There are sometimes problems when downloading the template with his original name (like "Jebus cross") and rename the file in your data folder then.
Try it like this:
Right-Click the template (picture) on TOH, chose "save as", look for your data folder in the upcoming explorer, click on the existing "rmg" file and press ok.
The following question (Do u want to overwrite the existing.....?) has to be answered with "yes".
Now it should work..
If u still get the message that no settings fits, then u have to look if u have chosen all settings CORRECT!

Thx allot I got the problem now,,,
It works now just fine..
That cause the old templets txt files i got probbly where cropted...ithe new ines i download from ToH map section are working just fine..
Thx again, maybe now i will do some comeback with Random templets instad of the orginal .even those I dont prefer the part od Unknow in the game .

Hello,
The message you receive here is not because the "rmg.txt" file was corupted, but because the templates cannot generate maps for all setings (settings = water content, with or without underground, the number of players in that game, etc.)
I built a Tournament on lrh site using all templates available on the "market today". And to make life easyer for all players i built also a huge page explaining how these templates can generate the maps.

Here i'll explain a bit how to "read" the descriptions:
On first example (rmg "Angelito's Fiesta"),
1. For 1 vs. 1 the template can generate for the following setings:
- L no under, water content (none, normal)
- L with under, water content (islands)
- XL no under, water content (none, normal)
- XL with under, water content (islands)
Easy to understand that if you set the map size to S or M you'll see the message: "Could not creat random map that fit the courrect choices".
Same would be if you set size L, no under and set water content to "islands" (on the first line in example 1 you noticed that for L no under water content should be set mandatory to none or normal).
2. For 3 FFA:
- Cannot generate (whatever setings you may use, once you've selected 3 players, the template would refuse to generate).
3. For 2 Vs.2 & 4 FFA:
- XL no under, water content (none, normal)
- XL with under, water content (islands)
Here the rmg would give you the error message if you set any size except the XL. Not even for XL all settings would be available:
XL no under cannot generate island;
Xl with water cannot generate for water content none or normal.
Like this you should learn for all templates the proper setings.
On the link I gave you here you'll find almost all templates played today online, just acces it and you'll figure it out what's wrong with one template or another!
