Likes/Dislkes throughout the series
Things I liked and din't like about the following installments of the series.
Heroes of Might and Magic II -
Liked :
1. Not every creature HAVING to have a special ability.
2. The 0-3 upgrade scheme.
Disliked:
1. All the heroes were the same.
Heroes of Might and Magic II:
Liked:
1. Introduction of 7 creature levels. I especially like the 6th level creatures.
2. Grail structures.
3. Equipping heroes, as opposed to the hero being able to carry more than one sword, etc.
Disliked:
1. Some of the creatures changing Towns. I think every installment of the series should be a continuation of the same story and the concept of creatures changing Towns doesn't really interest me.
2. Changing some of the base creatures and altering the base creature stat-system. For example, Bone Dragons used to be an excellent bargain at 1,500 Gold and Halflings were nerfed without having their stats changed because everything else had gotten a boost. I wish that all the H&H II creatures would have been left intact and that the new creature's stats would have been worked out accordingly to fit in.
3. I think the idea of 4,000 Gold per day and 1 extra resource in a Town was too much and diminished the significance of mines. I understand that all the new creatures and structures required more resources, except I think that 2,000 in a Town, 3,000 in a Capitol, and 1,800 in a mine would have been better. Also, I don't think non-Gold resources should be made in a Town.
4. The idea that every creature has to have an upgrade and a special ability.
Heroes of Might and Magic IV -
Liked:
1. Alternate creature path developments.
2. The skill system for heroes. I really like how all the heroes aren't all the same.
3. Alternate building paths for non-Creature development.
Disliked:
1. The inclusion of heroes on the battlefield.
2. The elimination of creature upgrades.
3. So few creatures.
Which of my opinions do you agree with and which do you disagree with?

In my opinion every creature should have at least one special ability. It would be boring if only difference between the creatures is just the appearance and some stats.. Special abilities make the game!

i am somewhat doubtful here. the artifacts could be relics that bring favour of god, luck and inspiration to the troops. it should be enough to keep them close, i don't really know if it's a good idea to equip them at all.
i would think in the direction of making the artifacts look more like those kinds of holy relics and less like some extra sharp sword that the hero has equipped. if an artifact inspires the whole army, i think it has to be something very holy, e.g. like jesus's shroud for the christians (whatever, i don't think i demember all those lr relics). would you want to e.g. equip jesus's shroud if you were christian?
========
some of my own:
1. i am extremely doubtful about the 'wait' in battles. i think that it was a very bad idea more often than not mainly because it creates stupid-looking battle situations. if you think that in 1 second an angel can fly 18 meters and a pikeman can walk 4 meters then i don't really see a reason why the angel should be able to wait until the "pikeman's 1 second" is over.
2. i'd like to see somewhat more special abilities than in homm2, but i think that special abilities should characterize the creatures rather than give it an advantage on the battlefield. well, both are somewhat important, but i would put character of the creature first. otherways we will get e.g. blocking on minotaur. how is blocking characteristic of minotaurs? even if all this axe mastery mumbojumbo was believable, how is blocking arrows or whatever characteristic of axes? i would even think about creating a considerable amount of completely useless or almost useless special abilities.
