Poll Question: Favorite Commander
What's your favorite commander?
1. Paladin - One of the best commanders in WOG. The Wizdom (learning) suddenly makes them extremely dangerous fighting units. Although cure doesn't help much during early game it becomes kind of useful later for Archangels
2. Soul Eater is the best commander in my opinion. As you gain levels always advance in magic power and HP (u don't want to lose them, right?). When fighting against soul eater, kill it as soon as possible and make sure the opponent won't have a chance to ressurect it.
3. Shaman - another super commander. give them attack, defense and damage, and they'll become killer tanks. And the haste spell is just made for fortress units.
4. Brute - Bloodlust is nice, but 50% of battle experience as gold is even nicer, especially as dungeon needs lots of gold.
The rest of the commanders in my opinion aren't as good as these four, so let's see which one u choose.

I voted for soul eater, but have to say ogre leader ainīt bad though, with the extra ballistas he delivers..
Although I have modified commander abilities in my game so, that paladin now casts bless, mirth and destroy undead (turn undead), hierophant has cure, fortune and shield, temple guardian precision, magic mirror and cold ring(good if there are enemies in adjacent hexes), shaman cast air shield and stone skin after haste, brute casts counterstrike (go minotaurs!), anti-magic and meteor shower(!), ogre leader mirth, prayer and frenzy(!) - ("barbaric rage"), etc.
Hierophant, temple guardian and shaman has shooting ability from the beginning and so on.

With "Enhanced commanders" and "Heroes start at lvl 5" he is even deadlier. The hero gains 5 levels but the commander gets almost 8 He also has unlimited retaliation and all you have to do is to go in the middle and the creatures just go to die there

I voted for Soul Eater because of Animate Dead But note that with "Enhanced commanders" SE's spe;; power is decreased significantly to balance this issue

I never thought it is good commander. Maybe even the worst for me...

I can't agree with you.
Hierophant, Ogre Leader - additional balistas is ultra cool, especially with Gurnisson; if any war machine script is active these commanders become very very powerfull(ballista+FAT is the perfect addition to a powerful paladin commander)
Temple Guardian - weak but allows you to cast spells much easily
Succubus, Astral Spirit - seducing neutral troops can hardly be called weak ability; same for banish

i voted with others because gurnisson + oger leader rocks
the bad thing it's that u don't get as much experience at once but you can afford to tacke bigger armies much sooner.
another unmentioned commander it's the rampart one. Those extra 1st aid tents can really come in handy. For exemple i had my main hero(level 15 or so) in the castle with 2 diamonds and the commander.i was attacked by a huge army that couldn't do nothing:i waited, hit and return next round and the tents did the trick healing even 400 hp/round.

The funny thing is that I don't find any commander all that great.
The palladin you guys consider so great is usually no match for upgraded mosters lvl 3 or 4. I did battle with a level 15 magic hero with one pikeman + the commander against 33 level 3 orc chieftains. The poor palladin died very quickly (with maximum skills of HP, deff, damage and speed). And he had about 600 HP...
these upgraded monsters just kick ass. a month 5 ancient behemoth has 1100 HP.

I used to like Paladin because of his Learning skill. However, I've recently discovered that Gurnisson's Ogre Leader can clean the entire map on 200% all by himself and his ballistas. In addition, I love his Beatles hairstyle.

Shaman is very strong commander. And his haste spell is most useful for the Fortress creatures.

I just found out that my WOG version is NOT the official 3.58 one, but another version made by one of the WOG members, a compatriot named Alexandru Balahura.
That's why monsters are so tough and commanders seem not that great.
This version of WOG gives incredible bonuses to wandering monsters. Each week, the mosters on the map receive:
10-15% more Hp
+2 Attack +2 Deffense
experience (I think about a level per week, more for low levels and a bit less for higher)
magic bonuses (permanent bless or/and shield or/and precision).
This version is REALLY good. Have you ever got the feeling that sigleplayer Heroes is just booring and after the first 3 or 5 angels nothing could stand in your way, even on impossible difficulty?
well this wog-scripted-thingie makes everything different and you get THAT feeling (of excitement) ever after 2 hours of play. this is because monsters are so tough and the battles become more and more difficult as the game progresses, NOT the other way 'round. In the fourth month, every stack of monsters is quite capable of slaughtering angels and champions.
And yes, those 1100 HP behemoths are for real. As soon as I find out how to post pictures here, I will give you a screenshot.
All credit goes to Alexandru Balahura. cheers and thanks man!

You sure itīs all about your wog version?
I thought there was a script that does something like this to neutral units by time.

s'pose you're right. It's more of a script. But being so different, I mistook it for a sec with a "version".
