Nooby Q's VS. Vets patience...
(First of all let me clarify that this post is NOT meant to frustrate anyone or demonstrate a lack of respect towards some vets in any way.)
This thread is to express my annoyance with the overall attitude of some members who tend to forget that these types of forums are to compare notes, talk about strategies and basically share our experiences.
I have been playing Homm3 for over 5 years but never really jumped on line or took the time to check the sites. I have been a member of about 1 week and am learning quickly new and interesting strategies. The issue always seems to be the same: old posts coming back over again. I can understand for some that it can be annoying but keep in mind, if we're new, we probably don't know much of the site and haven't learned how to search through google to find info on this site. (and by the way, how convenient is it to have to go on google to search a topic on a site that is dedicated to the game)...
If I could make a few suggestions:
1) The games skills are base on basic, advanced and expert... why aren't the forums done the same. This way someone in the "basic" thread list would expect to get questions pertaining to a beginer. The vets who don't want to be bothered could devote their discussions to the "expert" threads and just talk about really specific details!!! People could float from one category to the next knowing full well what type of threads to expect.
2) Great!! "the topic has already been discussed... Go read the other threads or do a search." Is it at all possible to have an internal search engines? It could work by key words in thread titles... If not, the list of threads could be in order of keywords instead of only by subject... someone with an issue on "tactics" could put it in to the key word category and then add the subject headline. It's time consuming going through 39+ pages of threads to find out what's been said. Half the discussions jump from topic to topic anyways.
3) Repetition. Maybe you talked about a subject 3 years ago and you've seen it 20 times... guess what? Opinions change, new strategies are learnt and over all game tactics evolve. It's not always a bad thing to bring up past arguements!! Sometimes new ideas come out of them....
(if this thread gets me in trouble, I'd like to thank Rat for his council up until now!)
If there is a better way to express my opinions, please let me know where to direct them!!!
Folks remember, education and experience is never wasted!
Lastly I finaly learnt what a Mod was, so Mods....
don't hurt me!!
(Any comments from other noobys or Vets would be greatly appreciated.)

I think it's the 1st post in the Library (sticky) called "The Library- Table of Contents!@".

I just saw your post now and I'm with you. Because most of the time I simply don't post a question just because I fear someone else complaining that he already saw that. But it's not just here. That's just the way message boards work. People that have been here since day one seems to be tired of answering the same questions over and over again. At the same time, new people come to the site and can't find their answers in the archives because the site is so titanesque!
I agree with you Jebus that a seach within the site would greatly help. And the "Easy" to "Veteran" categories is also a good proposition. As long as some veteran checks the easy section to answer the questions!!

Well the advantage to having the 3 categories is that those who want to help out know where to find the newcomers and those who prefer to stick with the more advanced discussions wouldn't have to deal with all the repitition..... (which I totaly respect as well!!)
I tried to check out some info in a thread by some more exp. members and couldn't understand half of the abreviations they used anyways!!!
If everyone had the options to identify to a group (beg, adv or exp) I think more people would feel welcome and appreciate the benefits of this site!!

I can hear ya Jebus..
So then go on and ask some questions.
Try to ask them clear and exact, so all the other members donīt have to ask again to make some points clear before they answer.
And then just wait and see what happens.....normally u will get many responses here, coz most of the users are polite and fair....
If the questions is not too hard, even a noob like me could try to give u an answer

You sell yourself too short. You're one of the most helpful people in the Library. If Angelito can't answer it, then odds are not too many people can.

1) bad idea.
If you as a n00b want better strategies then it makes no sense whatsoever in "learning" from other n00bs as it would... well there is a saying about it, "a blind leads a blind"
Meaning all focus would turn too expert level anyway.
3) Bad idea.
If a thing has been discussed one time, there might be valuable things mentioned there that isnt mentioned in the new thread.
Also you can compare different strategies over time and it doesnt take up a whole lot space as it does when same topic is discussed for the 10th time.
so there.

He acts like "Spirit of Oppression"...negates all optimistic posts on the threadfield

So I assume the mods read through the threads and answer when need be.... Where do we send these types of suggestions or is it safe to assume that if a mod reads and likes a suggestion he will refer the idea to a higher power??
Anyone know how all that works??? If the idea has been brought up in the past, and was rejected, is there a way to find that out??
I wouldn't ask if I didn't think the idea was worth considering.... We could save allot of members some frustration by avoiding confrontation in the threads.

too me, an internal search engine - aka HC specific - makes a load of sense. It would really help the finding and reviving the old threads.
