Making long turns less Boring? Hmm if only i see my opponents battles
Hey, just thought of something that i bet nobody has suggested yet. Im not absolutley sure of that because i havent read all the posts but anyways on to my suggestion. Has anyone ever played Age of Wonders online (its a cool game btw different than this and almost as fun) Well in that game on multiplayer u have this option of watching your opponents battles while they fought on their turn. Now I know this would remove a lot of the strategic and suprise elements becuz u would know what ur opponent had. But still, most players know that other players are pretty good and can usually accurately guess what the other opponent is building. PLus it will probably be a lot different by the time U actually meet to fight. Also, u could only see fights not map movement or anything else. I think this would work at least for allies, u could even give ur ally pointers and stuff while he fights tough monsters, who knows..Well just a thought... I'd like to say more but I'm tired and need some rest..so if this post makes no sense, thats Y!!! o wait one more thing where can i get a cooler pic(like one of a hydra perhaps) and whats this whole avatar thing, sorry Im new to TOH,sorry

can be put in Heroes4 - as an option. Even to display computer's fights again other computers or neutrals or other wandering creatures.
It will be good for newbies to see how they must fight in battles. This way they'll learn better.
But before starting a game - this must really be decided by players whether to be on/off. First it will slow down the gameplay (well actually no if it's displaying only human players fghts). But then worse can be that you'll understand your enemy - and then game becames less fun (at least for advanced players) - probably it'll be fun for beginners.

I've never played Homm3 online for the only reason that it's not possible... hope it will work with homm4 however. I guess the game can be very boring when you have to wait that long, because your opponent takes in so many fights. What you suggest could be a nice solution (I've been thinking of it myself yesterday). Also, it could be possible to look around in your own castle(s) while your opponent is taking his/her turn. Indeed, the problem is that the surprise elements will be taken away, that's why I've thought of the following:
Maybe you could still view your opponents battle, but instead of actually seeing what creatures he/she has in his army, the creatures should be replaced by a dummy. The dummy would look the same for every creature and there wouldn't be any numbers of creature stacks visible. Spells shouldn't be visible in their original graph either. Sure, this might be boring too, but I prefer seeing some dummies fight...
