I prefer HOMM III over HOMM IV anyway. I tried Heroes IV and I thought that the view you had when playing was a bit awkward compared to it predecessor. Plus I like the idea of upgrades better and combining teams like necropolis and inferno and only being able to chooose one creature for each level, with the exception of level one, was a bad change to the classic heroes of might and magic series. I'll try it again, but I think it is nothing compared to HOMM III.

Rage,
it's like you're reading my thoughts.... The one screen I find that really demonstrates your point is inside your towns... First it's very difficult to differentiate background to upgraded buildings and also the graphics seem very squared (litteraly). The mage guilds and schools of magic or boxes... talk about an upgrade (insert sarcastic tone here). Homm3 was a whole lot more estheticaly pleasing and easier to follow...
Cudos to you for giving it a second chance... I did the same and in no time put it back in the box.

So it just takes a bit of getting used to? If so, I can go for that. I'm just so used to HOMM I, II, and III that I was a bit surprised how different IV was.

It may but that wasn't my experience...
I found trying to get into it again dissapointing and frustrating....

Right now I have a really old comp anyways. So Heroes IV is out of the question until I get a faster one. I've got the SOD right now, but I wouldn't mind getting a hold of the complete set. I just hope it wouldn't erase all the maps I've made when I load it on.
