Addons, as in expansion packs? They're kinda old so I guess you wont find them in shops, but there is always ebay! Or you could get Heroes Complete- contains Restoration, and also the Armageddon's Blade and Shadow of Death expansion packs.
As for the abbreviations... heres a few common ones
lol, rofl & lmao indicates laughter,
gg means good game
brb means be right back
and STFU means.... well, it means that they don't like you much

For a less offensive use of the word or words "what the ****" you could just use wth = what the hell/heck.

I know that's what I meant by 'generally', however, **** serves no real purpose so you might as well use something else.

Updated...
Bored so I thought I might update. Some of it not completely relevent to Heroes but what the hell. I'll just give what applies / could apply.
IMO / IMHO - In My Opinion / Honest Opinion
TY - Thank You
NP - No Problem
YW - You're Welcome
BB - Buhbye
TC - Take Care
Comp - Competition or Computer - Doesn't always depend on context.
PEBCAK Error - Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard
ID-10-T Error - Idiot
FFA - Free For All
W/L - Win / Loss Ratio
Dmg - Damage
HP - Health / Hit Points
MP - Mana Points or Matches Played or Multi-player. Depends on the context it is used in.
AFAIK - As Far As I Know
TBH - To Be Honest
Typo / MT / MS / WC - Typing error / Miss Type or Tell / Miss Spell / Wrong Chat
Pwn / Own - Origionally the word "owned" was used when you beat someone. ie you owned them, usually a complete walk over or a skillful take down. The word became pretty common in competition gaming. Quite a few years ago one of the top CS (Counter Strike) teams called SK (Skroet Kommando, a Swedish team) miss-spelt owned and typed pwned. Since they were the best team for a few years running the replay was widely broadcasted and people started using the term as often (if not more often) than owned. On a side note here's some maths coz it still makes me sick. They sold subscribtions to their site and access to their replays for 50 euro's a pop. Last I checked several years ago they had over 30k subscribers. So they earned 1.5 bar from that little gold mine, not to mention the sponsers and prizes they won along the way. That was quite a few years back now and I've left the CS scene so I don't know where they have gone since. Makes you green with envy that people can make a killing while playing computer games doesn't it? it's not easy though. The amount of time and stress involved in getting that good is pretty intense. Just thought I'd share that useless bit of information =)

k - either "ok" or "I know". Some people get pissed of if they think that k stands for "I know" but you use it as "ok"

You need to read the FAQ/Rules and in particular this. In short QP is a Quality Point.
