Suggestions....

Hello there heroes community!

I've played the game for many, many years now. I just recently stumbled upon the WoG, and I realized that it is the best thing that has happened to me for a while.

I quickly installed the whole heroes complete to my computer and started downloading the WoG. The game is amazing, and I never tought that someone would spend so much time improving such an old game. My respects to those who did, and still do, because WoG brought me back playing Heroes III.

Now, after couple of sleepless nights, I have enough experience from the game to make couple of suggestions in it.

1. There should be more commanders to hire. For example, it's kind of monotonic that every castle hero, cleric or knight, has the same paladin raging in the battle screen. I know that each of these paladins have their own bio, but it would be nice if there at least cople of different commander types for each "Faction". It is somewhat understandable that castle heroes have a guy in the heavy armor running in the screen, but when thinking some other castle type, dungeon for example, I't just doesn't seem fit that every commander is a minotaur. Please, add more commander types for each faction.

2. I see that nagash had a facelift. Or he just wears a helmet from now on. anyway, talking about heroes, has anyone noticed that Tazar looks like King Diamond? It's ridiculous. Could you add a helmet for him too, or just remove the strange orange mask he wears, or is it painted? I don't know

These are my suggestions for now. No one should be offended by my comments, 'cause I admire the work that WoG team has done to make the game even better, and I will continue my playing, so I could make more notices and suggestions. Thanks for reading. Commentary is most welcome.

1) I'm waiting for the next patch. The team promised us improved commanders, so here's hoping we will be able to choose our starting ones. Two different(might and magic) commanders for each town would be nice, too.

2) There are several different set files for heroes' faces... I've found these:http://www.strategyplanet.com/homm/camelot/heroes/heroespics.htm

You can install them all, or choose those you like.

WoG also lets you set custom portraits with a simple script.

Yes, it would be fun to have dozens of new commanders, but you should understand you might be demanding too much from the wog team: Every new commander needs new set of animations and I bet there arenīt too many people willing to make all those animations.. I myself think 2 commanders per town would be enough (for ex. paladin and priest for castle), but not so necessary. At least, there is already a script which allows you to take whatever commander you want from the current ones (for ex. take ogre leader for knight an so on).

I understand the work that is behind this game, and that is the reason I had hard time believing that some people would spend so much of their free time working on this.

The fact is, that when you make a new feature in the game, it should be well done. The commanders are a massive hit. That's the reason why I would like to see even more of them. The idea of magic commander, and might commander is very nice. It should be done in the way, that all the might heroes have magic commander, and magic heroes have might commander. It might push those many might hero users to use magic heroes more often.

Ps. Much thanks to Vlaad for that face page. It brings new look to the game, and my favourite hero Tazar doesn't look like king diamond anymore. Wooo!

There will be one magic and one might commander for each castle type. Perhaps there will be 2 or 3 neutral commanders like in Warcraft 3. But WoG 3.59 is not coming in less than a year

I hope we will get tons of user-made scripts for 3.58 while waiting for the next release..

I think that you should release WoG updates in smaller packs. It's better to make couple of new features that work well, instead of lots of them that doesn't work at all.

There are lots of bugs already, and the game just crashes without no apparent reason. This is somewhat annoying. So I suggest that you place your efforts on fixing the known bugs of the current version, then add new features when you have a solid base to construct them on. And a couple well working features are always better than million badly working. The leap from 3.57 to 3.58 was so big that the bugs had to pile up.

The work is slow and hard, I know. But in the end the work will rewarded by the dozens of Heroes 3 players who will give you their support on the project. Many thanks for the WoG team for bringing this game alive again.

The problem is that many of the features are linked with each other. And everybody says "Add just this one too..." infinitely...

I always wonder why everybody complains of bugs and crashes?!? I never had one in the past 2 months {lucky me} Perhaps you are using too many scripts at a time? And how often do you encounter crashes?

Didn't you say you just recently discovered WoG?

Yes. I just recently discovered WoG, just like I said. But I downloaded the 3.57f from the WoG site first, then played it for a while, acknowledged that it was a good game, and then downloaded 3.58 and 3.58f.

In 3.58f, I have always encountered a bug that occurs in computers turn. Last time, I was playing hotseat game with my friend when the game crashed. It was some wood elves causing the crash.

I don't know what exactly the computer was trying to do, but we loaded from the autosave, added third player to the map, played the computers turn by ourselves and killed the wood elves. Then saved the game again, loaded that game with original two human players, and the bug did not occur again.

Some time later the same happened again, this time the computer was trying to attack some rogues. We did this whole thing again, and we got past it.

We finally were able to complete the game without these bugs happening anymore. They were annoying, nothing severe.

sugestions... hmmm i have some:
-Gods: add gods in the wake of gods(greek ones: hypnos, chronos, chaos, thanatos, hades, zeus, ares... Hypnos definitevly... in my opinion was the most powerfull greek god followed by Chronos and Thanatos)
-Warriors: castle has western warriors, why not add some eastern too? i mean samurais and shaolin monks .

and we really need a "moders guide"... specialy for moding and making creatures... a step-by-step guide.

Sorry but there just isn't enough space for much creatures. We're already at ~200 and the limit is 255. 18 slots are reserved for commanders in 3.59 and some numbers can't be used so the space is limited.

well it might be a way... jump over upgrade. erase the unupgraded creatures of castles and let only those upgraded....and this will resolve the problem in the "anti-christ" topic as we rename them

i mean how many turns i play with unupgraded creatures? ... let me think... 22, not even a month.. and the archers i upgrade the sooner i can... second or third day

i dont know much of modding ... i modifyed only ships capabilities in Silent Hunter 2 and thats really easy...
