A few questions
I am new to playing on the zone, in fact, so far i played only one match (but it turned out with a non-toh player), can you tell me what are the "standard" rules when you play (like banning DD)? I played hot seat pack to lots of times (literaly :-)), before I even heard of your tournaments and during that time my hot seat friend and I settled on these rules for really tough matches: No DD, Fly, TP, no Utopia, no Tome off..., no Spellbinder's, no Log, Arm, Off, Arch, Bless specialty, and Dipl starting heroes. Ah yes, the player who takes an ar. merchant town always plays second. Think that's it.
Could you tell me what do you think of these rules, and, if possible, write down the maps that you are using (think I played something like Battle of Honor on zone). Thx.

I did read those rules but it sais only about reporting games and points counting. When you want to play, do you arrange it here, or you just go the zone and look who is there?

if you're not playing ToH clans(you'll need 4 games to do that)you can set the rules on the spot with your opponent. Anyway on the zone people play some custom templates that exclude dd, fly...etc.Any other restrictions should be issued at the beggining of the game

Dun listen to this guy thinks he know stuff explaining like he's right lol sorry, only a teacher should only show confidence when he is totally sure
the templates do not exlude a think, peeps makes out rules at start game, normal rules can be for example:
no DD/fly/diplo/necro/flux/grail/carto/hillfort/HR/RR/no born logistics/cons-hives/4-5scrolls/
this is like the way peeps make it on zone, if you dont understand everything I'll gladly help Peeps mostly play with similar rules like the one above, with minor adjustments, varying from player to player
see you on zone
Edit: I mostly plays random maps, and those randoms are generated from a specified template, which is agreed upon before starting the game
A link to custom made templates on toh
Here is another link which generally describes what a template is, and also how to use it, and how to make own files with for example one specified original template (one of the ones 3do made)
Randoms revealed
Also, here's a link to a thread with lots of template info, and I think also some standard knowledge of how to make one yourself Waiting for Midnight
Else there are lots of usual maps people use for tournament play, these can be found here
I personally do not like them maps, because fixed maps be suck, and also, them lame vets have played em over and over again, knowing'em inside out (just a joke feel free to try em ou )
Edit2: definition of rules:
no flux = conflux town banned.
no carto = cartographer adventure location banned
no HR = means you cant attack, throw a damage spell and surrender or retreat within usually first three rounds of battle, this rule have lots of definitions, so I advice you to eventually ask for the players definition before the game, so no unnecceserily complications will appear
no RR = means you cant rush the blue player with red on day 1 of a week, before the blue player have got a chance to buy his troops
no born logistics = not allowed to use a hero that starts with logistics at all (can be both Pyre and Kyrre) as main hero
no cons-hives: means it is not allowed to attack creature banks that gives you angels or wyverns: conservatories and hives is that
no 4-5 scrolls: bans the use of scrolls containing fourth or fifth level spells. These scrolls is often quite easily guarded and can very well be the game winner, therefore many people leave'em out.

I dislike this rule a lot. Would be much more worried if opponent gets Hack or Neela anyway.
Same thing with lv.4-5 spells heroes. Fear of Alamar! Hah.

Hmmm...tough decision...really depends on the map.
The advantage of being faster on the map and perhaps doing some more fights could be neutralized by the "hitting much harder" thing. So Crag could do some tougher fights earlier coz of his offense blast. And barbarians are used to get log and artillery aswell.
I think i would chose CragHack, coz i´m not sure Pyre would do much more damage with the balista then Crag would do, coz his attack skill will be much higher at the same time....

ok,
so Lazy has a horde of hal's and Angelito has 1 AA.
AA's have more movement so Angelito goes first.

quote]I think i would chose Crag Hack, coz i´m not sure Pyre would do much more damage with the balista then Crag would do, coz his attack skill will be much higher at the same time....
Crag hack starts with 4/0/1/1 and will pick up attack skill ONCE every two levels(55/35/15/15) until lvl 10.
So a lvl 10 hack no arties, no marletto's or mecenary camps visited will look like this: 9/3/2/2 or better still 10/3/1/2.
Pyre starts with 2/2/1/1 and at lvl 10 she'll look like this: 6/5/3/2 or worse 5/5/3/3.
Now, an archangel with hack will deal on a peasant(att 1 def1 ) 50[1+(40-1)*5%+0.45)=50+1.95*50+0.45*50=170 damage
cos 50 it's his standard dmg;att/deff difference is 39,so it's 39*5% bonus;30% extra bonus cos expert offense+15%(5% of offense/lvl with the speciality).Anyway the max dmg is 300% so we'll setlle with 150 dmg.
An AA with pyre will deal against the peasant at lvl 10(no offense) 50[1+(35-1)*5%]=50+1.75*50=137.5 dmg
Hope i didn't make any mistakes, cos i checked angelito's thread about off/armourer some time ago now and i might have forgotten the exact formula.Pls correct me if i'm wrong!
