I just digged my old HoMM3 CD out of a pile of CDs and wanted to play a round for old times sake.
However after installing HoMM3 and patching it to the newest version (using a seperatly downloaded file) my PC crashed on starting the game.
I uninstalled the game, reinstalled and left the patch out .. same result. Directly after double Clicking the Icon my PC went black and rebootet.
On the installation my PC failed 2 checks:
1.) CPU - it does not seem to recognize my CPU as superior to a standard 133MHZ
2.) DirectX - it demands DirectX6 and I have DirectX9b
Has anyone experienced similar Problems?
Here are my system informations:
- CPU: AMD Athlon XP 1700+
- RAM: 1GB
- GraCa: NVidia GeForce FX 5200
- DirectX: 9b

What is your OS ?
If it is XP, i wonder about that happening.
Sometimes i heard about problems with Windows ME and installing the very first version of Heroes III, version 1.0
Perhaps u could tell me, what your heroes version is?
