That's one great thing about music. It helps to unite countries across the globe...
Because of everybody's musical preference we have people from one part of the world listening to artists from somewhere totally different. I think it is great that we have atleast some type of expressive art that can really bring everyone together. The world of music is such an outstanding subject... without it many of us, myself included, would feel lost. Like you have nothing to turn to.
Sometimes the best way to release yourself from an undesirable mood may be to find that perfect song that just does it for you. Or to make you feel even better than you already are, to give you an extra feeling of energy, you can listen to one of those inspirational songs that is just so satisfying. Music is so incredibly powerful... like hearing that song that just reminds of you of great times... that is prbobably one of the best things ever. Nothing else can do that for you. That certain song that reminds you of someone you loved or the time someone passed away. All these emotions...
That is what I meant when I said it unites us. Someone putting there time, effort and soul to make a certain song and then sharing it with you, so you may have the same feeling...
You can share you wealth, your possessions, even your time to help someone, but a simple song could mean so much more.
For all of you inspired by music, you know what I mean when I say it can be your key to happiness and a way to set you free from the troubles in this world...

Quote: I'd say the majority of my music would fall under the Alternative/Metal and everything in between category, although I do throw in some other stuff outside of this category if I like it.
Some of the bands on my playlist:
At The Drive-In
The Mars Volta
Pulse Ultra
Alexisonfire
Cold
Lacuna Coil
Billy Talent
Other stuff:
Avril Lavigne
Immortal Technique
Swollen Members
Eve 6
I could copy my playlist, but I won't. It's 113 songs, and I'm POSITIVE no one would give two ***** as to what's exactly on it.
Eve 6 was my first CD EVER, and I saw Lacuna Coil this summer!!! XD
They need to put out a new cd! -cries-

Since we are at it (german bands), have you german people ever heard of your "national treasure" Kreator (as was allegedly called by some of my death/trash and other junk metal friends), or are they known only in certain dark music circles?
I had the opportunity to watch them as guests on a festival here last week, and wasnt much impressed, but mainly their musics whats wrong, not quite my style.
They're the type of music you play to Iraqi terrorists in order to make em piss off.
und ja, guano apes sind eine meiner beliebtesten musikgruppen.

Radiohead and different shades of punk (punk rock, hard core, emo) for me...
That and 70's prog rock. And lots of bands from the 90's, like Nirvana, Blur, Fugees, and more.

That's a great album. I don't agree with all the political overtones, but otherwise it's quite a masterpiece for a punk band like Green Day.

Pop punk.
And I agree. It's imo their best album since Dookie. Kinda reminds me of Jesus Christ Superstar, on of the few (if not the only) musical I ever liked...

I, for one was pleasantly surprised with some of the lyrics. A lot of the songs are extremely well-written (IMO), and when you consider that it's a pop punk band, that's something else.
