As for Inferno I think it's great, 'cause I love fire magic and arch devils (especially the Berserk spell+Expert fire magic+arch devils .. that's simply overkill). I prefer XL maps, so bad start isn't too bad for me, I usually start up with some magic anyway, so that helps me alot (Zydar )
As for Fortress, I find it an average not really great, but not bad either... kinda balanced. I like the Hydra, except for it's awful speed.

Inferno, but it's mostly because of the annoying mage guild req. for pit lords, the prices in general, 1 snowty shooter and just not my taste

Inferno and Stronghold. I'm just not one for brute force without some healing capacity.

That's a good way to put it. Most of them are glass cannons compared to lots. But Stronghold is a more solid Town than Inferno, since Stronghold's having 2 shooters (not bad ones either) and better HP. I think this is more fitting for most situations. Won't even start comparing their T7 units ..

I'm 50/50 with Necropolis. I like many skellies, but I dislike not being able to really use other factions heroes. I also dislike how slow they are in general and desperately need movement/battle speed artifacts.
However, I played a random and got the undead combo... nuff said.
But when playing random I would be least happy to get Inferno.
All the other factions have their pros/cons that I can live with.

you still can best most lvl 1 lots/horde creatures and get wyverns - after that it's easy mode. 1 hidra + 1 fly can beat almost anything on the map - like throng lvl 1-2 walkers, hordes of lvl 3 walkers, ect. doable at week 1.

I can't stand Stronghold. I am one for magic, and Stronghold can only evolve their Mages Guild to lvl 3. Also, I hate behemoths, because if you fight against a strong army with mostly, or only, shooters, behemoths don't stand a chance. The only thing I really like about Stronghold is the thunderbirds, but they can't take much damage.
As for Necropolis, it depends. Their Necromancy is very usefull, but certain spells doesn't work on them (like bless). This makes them hard to use together with other factions, and so is really isolated to themselves.

This is wrong on so many levels. Even on (the lowest form of play) single play one should recognize the enormous power of the mass hasted Stronghold and the easy access to their best creatures. T-birds have 60hp! This is one of the toughest creature of its level. Upg. lvl 2 is a very good dmg dealer too.
I am also one for magic, and i know magic doesn't come only from the town you start with. It's most common for your hero to never return to that town anyway.
"...if you fight against a strong army with mostly, or only, shooters..."
why..., noope - i can't imagine this - it's way beyond me - but i assure you that Behemoths would be happy to battle only shooters : ) for shooters are slow and slow against Stronghold is dead. (T-bird is faster than any shooter in game)

And how many maps have you played so far where you only had ONE town (your starting town) for the whole game?
Quote: Also, I hate behemoths, because if you fight against a strong army with mostly, or only, shooters, behemoths don't stand a chance.
Expert tactics or mass haste while splitting your behemots in 4 or 5 stacks...what chances do the shooters have then? It will be very hard to kill 300 hp in melee..
Quote: The only thing I really like about Stronghold is the thunderbirds, but they can't take much damage.
But they hit hard...and the harder you hit, the lesser damage you recieve..

I'm sorry i started it - i really meant what i said - most players start with SP and stop evolving there. That was my reasoning. I don't like competition - but the mechanics of the game and the type of conditioned learning we have in our world today makes MP much better ground than SP in terms of learning and playing and developing skills.

It was not xlnt, but good joke.
Offcourse i replyed it - because the statement was misleading and could give wrong perceptions for some new players. Such statements are harmfull for the heroes communitie.

Necro, doesnīt matter if i use them or play against it.
Skelly farming slows the game down, and on many maps/randoms itīs also very overpowered.
On ToH maps usually rampart, coz you couldnīt get Dragons + castle, and goldies can be implod but not rezzed.
Some of the rushers liked them, coz early they are pretty good for hit and run tactics, but i considered rampart as weakest town usually.
On randoms, whole different story of course.

How can rampart be the weakest town for you? One building that always makes rampart a strong town (regardless of the map/situation) is dwarven treasury. Treasury makes Rampart a semi-good town in any situation if you ask me

Lots of posters play MP in games that don't last much past the 4-5th week, thus making the treasury worthless to them. On random XL SP maps it's quite handy I agree.

Believe it or not, the most uncomfortable town that I feel starting with is the Necropolis.
When I got the Necropolis as a starting town I seem to always quail in pain - they are by far and away the worst starting town, it takes me nearly 2 months to get to Bone Dragons.
But as a support town it's quite good.
