HC New Year's Resolutions 2005
I thought it would be fun to have a thread where we make resolutions for how we can make the next year in the Heroes Community the best it can be 
My resolutions are;
As a Moderator - to keep an open mind in listening to all members' opinions and feedback, and do everything in my power to make new members feel welcomed - and whatever I can do to keep existing members here.
As a member - when I read a thread that makes me laugh, smile whatever - too often I will move on to reading the next thread without participating. This coming year I will make more of an effort to contribute to the threads I enjoy, with hopes of keeping them going longer.
So what about you guys? What can you do in 2005 to make it the best Heroes Community year ever?

Aww, you guys are no fun!
I thought it would be a nice idea to make resolutions and then bring this thread back up in several months to see how everyone is doing on their goals.

My resolution for 2005...
I want to write a short story and share it with everyone on HC so that they can #1- enjoy it, #2- help me make it better, and #3- let me know if they want more.
I don't know what the timeframe for completing this story would be, but if I haven't started drafting something by the end of February, than I think I will have failed.

Mine could be to stop smoking, but as a man who always keeps (or at least tries to keep) his promises I canīt really do that..

My RL resolution is to stop smoking and get my butt back to the gym.
My HC one is to write more of my Forsaken War Story. (And give more QP's  )

Firstly some RL resolutions that were not really resolutions but I started doing them quite recently and successfully.
For one thing I do everything that I plan to do regardless of whether I feel like it or not. This is actually amazing. Turns out that lack of energy does not cause not doing things. It is not doing things that causes the lack of energy.
Second thing is my Tai Chi practice. I decided to practice for one hour per day. Since I'm opening two of my own classes next year, and I want to be serious about this, this is what it's going to take if I am to achieve some worthy results. (I've been learning Tai Chi for 5 years). According to the first principle, I do the practice regardless of how I feel about doing it. I do it even if it's late and I'm dead tired. It's an energising practice anyway.
Third is keeping the car and house clean. I've spent a good few days getting the house all dusted and cleaned and made a schedule one year ahead to keep it that way. It actually takes 1-2 hours per week to keep the place immaculate. Also a chedule for the car.
There are other smaller things as well, to do with eating, garden, etc. I treat life like a computer game. How much time have I spent improving the stats of stupid diablo characters? I will spend that time improving my own "stats" and my life. I got pretty sick of feeling bad because there's so much to do and the place is messy. Thinking and planning does not solve it, only action does, and now I've done it, and I will keep doing it.
That's the secret of any resolution. Nothing makes a difference other than JUST DOING IT. I see people trying to find reasons why they can't do something, looking for elaborate strategies and still being stuck. When they are told to just do it, a great difficulty arises in them seeing such simple unsophisticated advice to have value. "If I could just do it, I would have done it" they say. The answer of course is to just do it anyway. Just because, regardless of anything.
For the moment, there won't be big HC resolutions. However lately I have been around more. According to Pandora's good idea for my resolution, the 2nd of each month (NZ time, meaning 1st in many other places) shall now be the custom avatar upload day. Two days to go for the next one!

I don't quite see why this is a reason for not stopping smoking
I never really make resolutions for new years but if I had to make one for this year, it would be givin RL more time and getting my darn butt moved to make more school work /some housework

You see, if I would have promised to stop smoking, and wouldnīt done that (as I propably wouldnīt have done), I would have failed my promise.. And thatīs something I donīt want to do, even though I might want to stop smoking.

Since I like the original idea of this thread and it's turning into a spamm fest, I'll try to make it better.
I enjoyed reading Val's comments and especially liked the beginning when you said "stick with what you plan to do and not what you want to do". This is very true for me and I should take that in consideration.
In RL, my resolution is just to be a nicer person in general. I would enjoy people reffering to me as "that nice guy I met ... ". I will try to be as nice as I can to everyone around me.
For a HC resolution, I will try not to fight anymore. I found out it's useless and that it actually decreases the quality of the site which I like and I don't want that to happen. If confronted, I will start by ignoring the person and take it from there. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it after a while!
