Network battle freeze
I am tyring to help a friend having network battle problems.
Here is what he posted in another forum but he never gets an answer.

WoG would be a great game if we could actually fight a human vs human battle all the way thru without running into the "it's your move....NO, it's your move" hang up.
And just in case any of you techies are reading this post:
I have encountered this problem with all the scripts turned off, and just the hard coded options on. And yes I have read the multiplayer trouble shooting section and have installed the older direct-x files. I am running Windows XP. I have Restoration of Erathia (patched to 1.4), Armageddon's Blade (patched to 2.2), and Shadow of Death (patched to 3.2). I've installed the all in one 3.57f file and the 3.58 and the 3.58f files numerous times and I'm still running into the same multiplayer hangups with several players while in a TCP/IP game. Both with myself hosting and others hosting.
Also for the record, we have not been right clicking on any enemy stacks during human fights.
I have read posts saying that I should not be having any problems with using the hard coded options only and yet we continue to do so. The fight hangups are occurying on both scenario and random maps as well.
I would be willing to playtest this further, so if anyone has any ideas of what to try, kindly let me know.
PS: Great game with some very cool features, so my hats off to the people behind it.
PPS: For the next WoG, can you give us a 3 minute turn option ? _________________________________________________________
So does anyone out there know a way around this please.

I think only Slava can check on or deal with this problem.
I know a few people tested with 3.58f without scripts and reported they didn't get hangups or freezes but I think there still haven't been extensive tests yet, so it could still be situation dependent.
All I can do is pass this along to Slava for when he has time to look into it.
Is there an email that Slava could use if he needs to get more information?

Thanks Fnord.
I am just curious to know if most others are having this problem. I personally have yet to play WoG online so if there is anyone out there who does not have this problem i have some questions for them.
Also do the WoG team hold out any optimism of network games running smoothly with other than hard coded options inabled in the future?

I've tried everything from doing EXACTLY what you did, to uninstalling everything; re-installing heroes with Heroes 3 Complete instead, still doesn't work, and it's a real shame because a lot of my friends and I want very badly to play a LAN game, but can't mainly because of issues like this one. So all we can do in the meantime is play Hotseat, but that is not the same.

Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but a friend and I are also having this exact issue. Did Slava ever get back to you?

No. Will not come back. Why?
Try this script to treat bug on TCP/IP. Only for ERA II.
