A Shining (Shrilling) Example of American Pop Culture
I am going to sign the petition; however, I feel the neeed to point something out.
This is a perfect example of just how pathetic American Pop Culture has become, not to mention the lack of quality product that the American Music Industry is willing to promote. American consumers are ignorant and cannot think for themselves. When they see Ashlee Simpson on TV and in magazines (regardless of how horrible Ashlee's voice and performances truly are), they think, "Ashlee Simpson is everywhere. Her music must be great if she is always on TV, the radio, and magazine covers. I want to be accepted like Ashlee Simpson, so I will buy her products."
It is nice to see that some consumers are finally fed-up with having an inferior product shoved down their throats. Congratulations.

Actually, nothing is soved down anyone's throat (if you read pop magazines and watch a lot of TV, then yes, but nobody is forcing you to do something as stupid as that), nor are the consumers fed up with it. Those who like this particular singer (or pop music in general) won't stop liking it because of this petition, will not sign this petition and will not even know about the existence of this petition because they either don't know how to turn on a computer or only know how to use it to post goth poetry on their blogs.

You'd think the nation would take a hint from that complete mess-up, Britney Spears. She's no longer the innocent 18yo I heard about back in eighth grade. I can't even look at the cover of her hits CD at the music store without feeling disgusted. Her prerogative, my foot. I bet everytime I turn my back she'll have remarried several times.

It's a sick generation drowning in all this faux music that make the pop charts. As for Simpson's lousy singing live, you'd think someone else had to sing on her albums for her. So very undeserving of massive international attention and sales. Their glory will not last.
Petition signed,

I signed it, but what's the odds of Geffen unsigning her as long as they can make money from her?

Excuse me, good sir, for asking, but do you happen to be a nun? Or intend to become one?
i'd say the cd covers are the only worthy thing about britney since after her 'liberation'.
as for that simpson girl, i must be lucky that i dont know anything about her. anyone care to offer some introduction material?

In my oh so very humble opinion, the music industry
is at a low point. Now I'm a kind of old guy, and I grew
up with the Beatles, Bob Dylan and others. There were
people who knew how to write music. They inspired and
defined a whole generation of young people with their
lyrics and melodies.
I'm not so current on all the latest artists, but I do
listen to the radio and I do appreciate creativity, even
if I don't care for the genre. For example, rap and hip-hop
never appealed to me much until one day I saw a program
showing the origins of this kind of music. There was this
circle of guys just hanging out taking turns at ad-libbing. They were hot!
Before rap started, there was the talking blues, ad-libbed blues made up on the spot. Dylan was extrordinary at this, making up songs in minutes and recording them right away.
Those like Ashlee are frauds, neither writing nor
performing. I blame her father for promoting all of
this, and the music industry for being so falsely
pretentious they only care about the bottom line, not
about art.
The great thing is time always weeds out these empty
headed performers and leaves only the good ones. She
will be forgotten!

I agree. I may be only 18, but I did not grow up on pop music. I've never really enjoyed any music made after 1980 (there are exceptions, of course).
People like Britney and Simpson and the Spice Girls (lol, remember them?) aren't musicians or songwriters. The way I see it, their heads are empty and they are set on making all other people like them.
I don't think you could find a single person over 20 who'd try to prove me wrong.

That's thinking way too highly of such a person. If you're transfixed on her image, why not try counting all of the guys she's been with (and those she will be with). What a mess; and she's just in her 20's!
Not so appealing now, is it?

As you can tell, I'm not a guy for one night stands. The implied 5min-bam-leave seems highly unattractive. I mean, for all you lonely teenage guys out there who've tried so hard to get a few minutes of sweet conversation with a good-looking girl, don't you think you deserve better? Of course, there are those who'd be completely satisfied with the 5min thing.
Hormones will be hormones, I suppose.
If Britney "sucks" as her music does, I'd advise hiring a good hospital staff after the occasion.

I read yours and commented. Some people who post in such bloggy locations should perhaps consider opening it to the rest of the world. A contribution hardly contributes if it's hidden deep in some relatively unknown reclusive location.
My point is you might that I'm not the only one who thinks you have talent. Why not share it with everybody?
