Rank the Random Templates
I'm curious about what random templates people like and dislike, and why they play certain templates more than others (a ranking would be nice, but i'd like , if possible, some reasons as to why you chose that ranking).
Thank you

I started playing Toh templates with Jebus Cross.I like that one alot as it gives such a rush for the middle zone and for all the big fights;still after a while i found it rather unballanced as it turned out one zone had 3 or 4 topes as another had but cons and hives and some scattered arts(treasure value very high allows such a thing). So i started playing Stefan's template "Sandstorm" wich i hated first(big difference between that one and Jebus), but in the end i kinda liked it too.Midnight Mix was the next on my list, not for long though as i hate maps with zounds of portals/gates.I played also on panic and balance, but not enough to make an opinion. My favorite yet is Extreme.
This has it all, allowing a gradual development:small but rich start zone(1 gold mine for sure),easy break to the second town(necro),then more powerfull creatures guard the entrance to the treasure zone where the big fights occur for relics, pandora and topes, then on to the oponent's zone there are massive amount of guards(big horde/small throng lvl 7)So not such a big chance to rush your oponent past those week 3!This is a two edge blade IMHO as the games on extreme seem to be some of the longest.
Just my two cents

Best templates for 1vs1:
Extreme II
- averag richness in starting area, fights are getting harder and harder....and huuugh armies in the middle area
Every player has an own treasure area and another big treasure area is ment for both.
Extreme
- similar to the above one, but a bit more rich and a bit less armies
Marathon
- very long game, average richness, many areas, best palyed with under, transporting units is very important here, coz u need hours to come back home..
Jebus
- Even for the fact it is unbalanced very often (but u can prevent that with some rules though...), i like this template, coz it is a fast game, when played on L no under.
Blockbuster
- You can reach opponents castle in 2 days normaly, when u r able to kill thos lots/hordes of level 7 units blocking the way. The other way is going through opther areas into the treasure area and meet him there. Nice one.
Angelitos Fiesta (still not avaible on public sites)
- richness between Jebus and Blockbuster, but there is NO direct way to your opponent, meeting only in treasure zone. Is a mixture between them both i think, but more balanced than Jebus.
Best templates for 2vs2:
Jebus
- funniest template for allied fights. XL no under, problem of unbalanced areas still there, but fun is fun..
Vortex
- average richness, more balanced than Jebus, poor in arties (at least in the first 2 zones...). More skill needed than for Jebus.
Angelitos fiesta
- Yes, like Jebus, this template can be played as allied game as well. Should be played on XL no under, so the areas are balanced quiet well and every player has enough stuff to do in his areas..

I will rate the templates from 1 - 10, were 1 is extremely useless and 10 is extremely useful (in the arts of survey, as that is my part time job ) Note that I rate the templates after how I think they fits as tournament templates
Jebus - rating 1
This template is fun to play, yes, but in my opinion this template is useless in tournament play, because to often, the winner is the most lucky player, even though, of course skill is important too
Blockbuster - rating 8
This template is also great fun, and aint as unbalanced as Jebus. The better player will most often win. Its almost like playing a fixed map, only you cant memorize it, which makes players who thinks they are the best in da world memorizing those silly fixed maps lose always The only reason why I this template doesnt make the 10 is because I am no fan of relics
Balance - rating 9
This is a more random map template imo. The castle/rampart player wont always win as in bb Stronghold is great on this one, which is good, because stronghold is fun to play so there there might be a balance issue on this template as well, as players starting area's richness seems to vary a lot. The better player will however almost always get the better start and the better economy
Panic - rating 10
This will be the only template I will give this rating. The reason is simple. Usually the players areas are almost equal, which makes this template ideal for tournament play. Second area have all mines but gold mine. The challenge on the template is to gain a good economy, and crashing banks is (as always ) important many paths to the opponent, makes chaining and bulding two heroes extremely important for semi block taking. Also, view air/earth important too. A challenge for the brain
Extreme 2 - rating 3
have only played this one once, and never got finished, as heroes destroyed the save I am no fan of such templates, but for the players who enjoys unbalance and long games, this is the one to play
Skirmish - 8
Great for play in natives tournament a fast and fairly balanced game, rushing is often the key here I am tired of typing, so this will be it
Regards
LL

Ok, in that one game I had 3 dragon dwells, 4 unicorn dwells and 1 pegasi dwell. I saw opponent right before save was broken, and we were soon ready for main fights, he had nothing like that. also, as always, relics and dwellings = unbalance. So my statements were: long and unbalanced games - a correct statement, so there

Jebus is the most balanced template of all. With the single rule - only 1 level 7 dwelling.
Everything else is OK, because could (and often is) contrabalanced by other stuff.
Like - if one has level 7 dwelling, but the other dont - implosion could kill those level 7 creatures. Or if red has implo and blue dont, red orb , rectancers or 30% resistence could do the game.
And there is so many others - cons, hives, numerous level 6 dwells, pandoras with armies, expert berserks, armagedons and so on.
So the best chaining and the fastest player almost always win.
And the few times that its reaaaaaaly unbalanced - well, there is no heroes game (even on fixed map - one have early earth magic and game is won), that can be 100% equal.
