n00bish disaster
For those of you who've known me a long time, you've heard this one before ; but for those of you who are new to the community I'll tell it again 
To set the scene a little bit there was once a HoMM player names Andiangelslayer, you may see his name from time to time around here! He was one of the great Heroes players, knew the game well- played with honour and yes, he was a very fine tosser too  When you see his name now it says "bad mannered", but the Andi I knew and played with for years had great manners And was fun to play whether you were winning or he was beating you like a rented mule. But like you all, Andiangelslayer was once a n00b too - and here is his story.....
Once upon a time, there were 4 happy little heroes players.. Yawacko, JB239, Andiangelslayer and ... well, lets call him BOB cuz i forgot! lol Well Yawacko and JB played many many games of Heroes, and were revered as veteran players, Bob and Andiangelslayer were newer players and so each of the veteran players allied with a newer player and the fun ensued!!
Well little Andiangelslayer didn't really think of himself as a newer player at the time, in fact - he fancied himself to be pretty darned good! On one of his turns very early in the gamehowever, Andiangelslayer ran into some bad luck with his main hero - and his ally JB asked him if that hero had died, or if he ran. Andiangelslayer replied sadly "the hero died... i would have won too, if the skels didn't get morale..."
There was a long pause then, as the other players gave some thought to Andi's words...finally Yawacko asked "uhm, did you say the skels got morale?"
Much laughing and joking ensued and we will never, ever let Andi live that down lol

(first of all, if you're a tax payer of the city of Ottawa, you should be posting complaints that Lion has time to post novels of him falling asleep, dreaming and then waking up again!!!)
Ok well as far as my noob status....
I'm an expert in the ancient art of noobism... (building capital first, using magic like implosion and chain... hates tactics, and loves all rules!!)
I use to rival Conan in hotseat and destroy Lion...
I'm a noob that started on HC before Lion, and am now listining to him talk of the olden days!! Conan and I started on Hc roughly in the same month but I got tired of the old arguments and left... I'm a noob but still made a "triumphant" return as the prodigal son (with new avatar) but most didn't notice!! (because I'm such a noob)
I'm learning how to chain, but hate chainning... I stopped playing on the zone cuz I can't stand playing a 12 hour game that doesn't involve getting drunk with Conan.... I'm a noob that doesn't care about counting my squares, putting fast units on my main hero and I have never had a guy with 20+ stats in week 2...
I'm a noob but already learnt the hard way not to offend SS...
I love XL maps that we never finish...
I hate end fights!!
I guess I'm just a noob.

Wow, Jebus, I couldn't agree more.
I, too, prefer XL maps that never finish. I don't bother to count tiles either. When I play Heroes, it's just to have fun.
And speaking of chaining, that's one of the good things about H4 - that they removed that thing...

I used to play with JB239 (we were vets at the time tho, can I still post?) and we used to generate XL random maps (with under) and play no rules just to accumulate the most ridiculous force possible, and I'm not too sure if we actually did finish one of those games - but I have to agree, that was the most fun way to play

Throw in a case of ales and you'd get along great with Conan and I!! We always say play and drink'till you're brave!!! we would always be hesitant for "lots" or "hordes" and after a few, Conan was always:"I can take that!!!"
Jebus:"dude that's like zounds of gold dragon's!!"
Conan:"yea-hah I'll kill em all!!"
Jebus:"you should retreat... you should retreat... you should retreat..."

No no no!!! you got it all wrong!!! LOL
you see, we used to play for so long that we'd get sooooo drunk, we couldn't even see the screen anymore! I dint see Zounds, I'd see several... (you know how several is like Zounds upside down, right?? LOL)
Anyways, Jebus here would never let me reload the game.
We'd play for hours without end. We once played for 24 hours straight? At John's place? Then since we both worked at the same place Jebus would call in sick and say: " Hey you wanna talk to Conan, cause he's right here!!"
I remember the long bus rides home from University at like 2hrs in the morning....
Those where the days.
Really Terje, we should get together and play a XL random!!

see that's the dif between canucks and the rest of the world.... they're always trying to dominate... but we can go to war with a case of beer on our shoulders!!
Conan's right... grab a pizza and play until you couldn't see... well that's what I'd tell him but really I could hold my liquor better than him and watch him getting drunk and lose his guys!!

Close! The real differense is that we understand that we could hypothetically go to war, but since we have this case of beer on our shoulders anyways, we decide to stay in and have some fun instead
edit:: nope, there's no way to set it for hotseat and tcp/ip

(And the only time we go to war is if we run out of beer (which we never do) or someone says "canadian beer sucks"!

hmmmm
ok
8 Adoob because I've been playing for 5+ years so know all the basics, how many hit points each creature has, etc
6 Loob because everything I think I know under #8 isn't working
7 Doob because I never play when not drinking
2 Toob because I don't like playing by a "formula" on day one you have to do this, on day two you have to do this and if you don't get angels by end of week one, you've lost the game
1 Boob because of #2 & #7
3 Choob because I've tried and tried to chain, I understand the concept, but what a pain! That and my "give to" hero only stays by my main for a few turns, then he either can't catch up or something goes wrong and it simply no fun to chain and play
4 Roob because I have no idea which creatures move faster on grass, who gets a bonus on certain terrain, and I NEVER have stats even close to my opponent in month 1 week 2 and this list could go on . . .
So, do I qualify?
