Heroes V news!!!!
Hello everyone,
Just now I received information from Ubisoft England concerning the developement of Heroes V. The letter reads as follows:
"
...
In answer to your question, we have not announced the production of the next instalment of this brand so are therefore unable to comment at this time.
Sorry."
Bottom line is the production hasn't started and if it did nothing solid was gathered except a few ideas and sketches. The release of the game this year is not possible, and so, my friends, I do recommend forgetting this game and moving on. When it shows up again we'll continue the tradition.
TheOverlord
(This information is not bogus, in case you wonder.)

Yes man, you're right i guess it's time to move along!
You just become my best friend! If it weren't for you i'll prolly would have waited for another 50 years of my life for this game to show up, and every day i would have made plans on how it should be.
Thanks for getting me and all this Community from the psychotic enviroment we were in and finnaly opened our eyes.
One suggestion though, you see there are 11 forums you can write in here so you better start a thread in the OTHER forums you haven't already, so that this valuable info doesn't escape no one's attention.
Hope you will keep in touch with your friends from Ubisoft England for more details, for the sake of this Community.I guess as soon as they start someting, you'll be the first to know as you're such a reliable pen pall!
So if you find some "behind the scene" news please share it with us!
And BTW, you should make a career in the police, or become a private eye, as you are a genious in interpreting letters.I mean i couldn't have found the hidden meaning in that letter the way you did!
See you around for another news bulletin!

It's just a shame to waste your time thinking about this game since it's production is under question.

you got that note mostly because not Ubisoft England is taking care of the developement of Heroes V. There is no question about it, you will be able to play the game (snowty or gorgeous, no matter) sometime in the late 2006.
And this info is not bogus.

I don't see how you managed to come up with that bottomline based on the "information" you have received. You must have outstanding analysis skills.

Yeah, it's common practice, releasing artworks before even deciding to actually start making the actual game.

They did decide on the production, but did not start. Late 2006 is nothing but an imaginary speculation - In 2006 you'll probably tell yourself it'll be release in Mid 2007.
I didn't conclude from the letter, this is mostly an opinion. The game will not be released this year - and that's a fact.
And this informatio is not bogus (smartass...)

Moving to Altar,
but on a personal note - it could be slightly worrying to think that H5 isn't speeding towards us as fast as we thought

Well, actually it is not speedy, 2006 was the year they intended to release it anyway. I would preffer 2007 or 2008 for the matter, but it's not my decision

I don't understand what you were expecting to hear from them. Since the game has not been publicly announced it is a certainty that they will not respond to inquiring emails with new information. They'll want to make a big statement when they announce the game, not just clue in 1 person that happened to email them.
Since they didn't make an announcement by November, I think it is a very safe bet to say that they are waiting till E3 to make an announcement. It is very rare that new information is released about games in between Christmas and E3. Most news comes out at E3, continues through the summer, and trickles off in fall when all the hype shifts to Christmas releases.
Also note that games are typically under development for a year or more before any hard info comes out about them. That way they can already have screenshots, videos, and a realistic picture of what will and won't be in the game.

So it's clear that Heroes V's just a rumour.
I am really sad... I've been searching Heroes V news for months and finally discovered that it's just a rumour...
Anyway, Ubi did spend a huge amount of money buying MoM and HoMM. Unless Ubi's really stupid, it will continue the HoMM series. Time is the only matter.

I've found a reliable HoMM news(7 months ago). I found it in YahooGames and Gamespot. You can visit the links if you don't believe. It's a bit old but I think some of you may not know about this...

"Ubisoft Announces Heroes of Might and Magic MMORPG
Another beloved franchise joins the online movement...and that's about all we know.
Ubisoft, one of the world's largest video game publishers, today is proud to announce the signing of a development agreement with TQ Digital, a Chinese Online game developer and operator of MMO's. As part of the deal, TQ Digital will develop a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) based on the "Heroes of Might and Magic" franchise. The title is slated for release in late 2005.
"The online gaming market in Asia is booming, but to date, western products have failed to penetrate in any depth. This is principally due to differences in tastes between game players in Asia and the West," said Alain Corre, Ubisoft's managing director for Europe, Middle East and Asia. "The approach to the development on this product is to blend Asian gameplay elements and a western franchise with high recognition in the Asian territories. To that end we will work closely with TQ Digital, who already have a wide experience in this area and who we know will be able to develop a great game that will please the Chinese MMO fans."
"I have always been a huge fan of the Heroes of Might and Magic franchise, and it is an honor to have the privilege to work on this project with Ubisoft," said Mr. Dejian Liu, Founder and Chief Game Architect of TQ Digital Entertainment. "As one of the top game developers in China, TQ Digital is highly committed to bring the best online gaming contents to our players, and in this case, to all the fans of the Heroes of Might and Magic franchise."

"Heroes of Might and Magic gets MMORPG treatment
Ubisoft teams with China's TQ Digital; online version of Might and Magic franchise due for Chinese gamers in 2005.
SHANGHAI, China--In America, 2004 has seen the cancellation of many high-profile massively multiplayer online role-playing games. Ultima X: Odyssey, Mythica, Warhammer Online, have all fallen under the axe.
However, across the Pacific, a classic role-playing game with more than a dozen sequels is about to be reincarnated as an MMORPG space. At a press conference this week in Shanghai, Ubisoft China and game developer TQ Digital Entertainment said they had inked a deal that will see an MMORPG based on the Might and Magic franchise reaching Chinese gamers in 2005. A worldwide launch is also being considered.
In the case of the upcoming venture, Alain Corre, Ubisoft managing director for Europe, Middle East, and Asia, said, "The approach on this product is to blend Asian gameplay elements and a Western franchise with high recognition in the Asian territories. To that end, we will work closely with TQ Digital, who already has wide experience in this area and who we know will be able to develop a great game that will please Chinese MMO fans." He added, "The online gaming market in Asia is booming, but, to date, Western products have failed to penetrate in any depth."
TQ Digital's parent company, NetDragon, made headlines last year when it sold its gaming portal, 17173.com, to one of China's online giants, SOHU, which is the operator of a Web portal that delivers news, search, games, e-mail, and instant messaging to its customers in China. The $20 million dollar deal was one of the few significant transactions completed in the competitive Chinese games marketplace in the last 12 months. TQ Digital is considered one of the major game operators in China, distinct from others because its online games are all locally developed.

Chinese players are quite worried about this game because so far we've only seen some concept arts. Also, We always think that HoMM = turnbase strategy. The quality of this Made in China onlinegame is in question... I think you understand why...
