I have just added what I think is the answer to this to my FAQ:
"I have been informed that setting the internal IP address of your computer so it is the same as the external IP of your router will allow you to do this. Check your router manual to see how to find the router's IP address and you can change your computer's IP address through network properties (right click on the network connection/properties/click tcp-ip/properties and change the top address there. Leave the sub-net mask as the default value placed there when you press "ok")."
I don't have a router so I haven't tested this but I have just had an email from someone who did this and it worked.

behind a router
Quote: hi,
Yes it is simple. open browser and enter your router control panel by typing 192.168.1.1 into address bar.(this is the usual setup) Go to games and applications area and open zone ports. 2300-2400 28800-29000 6667-6667 and 47624-47624. also, your ip address is probably 192.168.1.100 or 101, etc.. you can find that out by checking status tab of network connection. Enter the above information save and exit. Also disable any firewall on your computer or set it up to accept zone ports also.
Hope you get all this. Good Luck

Port Forwarding
it is a technique known as "Port Forwarding" and each router will have its own commands to do it. I've a D-link DSL-G604T which allows port forwarding but for the life of me know idea how to do it. Good luck to anyone else who can do it.
