Eureka!!
Hey I have a great idea!!!
Wouldn't it be great if 3DO would make animations inside the towns when u recruit creatures. It would be cool if ghost dragons can swoop out of their pens and down to the slots!!!!
And efreets can burst out of the lava lakes in a fist if flames before taking it's place at its slot.
Vampires can take the form of bats before changing back to we... vampires.(alternately they can portrait the vampire sucking the blood of a human, preferably babe!!! )
i wouldn't mind if 3DO increase the game by 1 CD just to store these cool animations, cause this would be a great improvement to the layup of the town(else it would probably be about the same as HOMM3 wouldn't it??)
wat u guys think of this idea??? comments please.

"Comment"...
This won't be comment like you wanted I suppose...
NO!
Let's think a little bit further this thing now...
So you are saying that 3DO should spend their time making cool animations instead of making the gameplay and balance right?
For all those that answered yes I just say find a new game. I have loved Heroes series because it concentrates more into gameplay than into graphics. "Cool" things aren't the things I look for but it seems that it is the most important for some people here whatever it means.
Let's just stay with one CD and let's add some depth into gameplay. Game can be totally Cool! even without those animations and be different from HoMM3. In fact I don't know what you are talking about Smiley maybe you are more into animations. Maybe you should by some animationstudio program and start animating. That's thing more for you than Heroes.
Our thoughts about HoMM seem to be really far from each other unless your comment was irony or sarcasm related.

Hey Shaman no need to be so aggressive. I don't think it is a big deal at all for the game makers to add in a few more animations. this is just a "bonus" for our support. I think most here will agree that it is a good idea. it's just a bit more space for ur harddisk for these enhancement.
Besides, good animations + the background music will set the mood for the gameplay. so it is never a bad thing. If u are so conscious of gameplay and sore-eye just because of good graphics, why not u just stick back to HOMM3 n give us a break, 'cause from wat i see HOMM4 is already full of good eye-poppers, y not just add one more?

LOL Smiley (aka Still?)
I like how people come up with really really cool stuff (LOL) and then say it's no big thing to incorporate new sprite frames and animations into a game. These things take months of hard work on the part of the graphics team who have to sketch, let's say 30 animations PER creature, for every town and for every little variation of that creature too. You're looking at hundreds of sketches and all of those sketches have to be pixelized and then turned into sprites which in turn need code written for them. All for what? For a bonus to us people who want something cool?
I agree with Sha.

Animations
It sounds kewl, and might be interesting for the first couple times you see it.
My concern would be time, Even with a fast computer I get pissed at the time I spend in a teleporter trying to get to the correct exit I want (I'm thinking of maps Like Hourglass, where teleporters have several exits) It makes the teleporter fast if you turn off the sound for effects in your heroes computer settings. but I like effects sound on so, It still takes the time to turn the effect on and off.
If you are in a 2 min turn game, this time is essential (one reason some would like a buy all button in castle, or a trade all button when 2 heroes meet, all to save precious time during turn)
I wanna buy my creatures from the castle fast and start fighting, not spend half my turn watching them morph and fly prettily into my heroes slots

Oh yah . i almost forgot . of course u can have the option of turning it off at the options menu or something just like music and sound. one might get tired of it eventually but well it still lends a flair.

My opinion
Hi smiley, your idea will make the whole game more spectacular. However,in my opinion,it seems like a white elephant. The shots might be eye-candy for the first couple of times, but I think I'll be very frustrated if I have to see the repeated animations everytime I recruit some creatures.I like things the way they are now.Besides I hope to see the game soon(hopefully by Dec) and I think your idea will cause a longer delay

Ok, let's look at the plusses and minuses of your idea.
On the plus side:
It would look really impressive when you're showing the game to someone.
If it really bugged you, it could be switched off.
On the minus side:
It would cause a major delay in the release, due to the programming limitations Shae discussed earlier.
It would probably require a second CD as you said. This would involve either a lot of annoying swapping, or space on the hard drive. Now, I've got a 30 gig drive, but not everybody does.
It would probably drive up the system requirements for the game. The wider range of systems you can fit, the more chances there are to sell your product.
It would considerably increase the COST of the game, or reduce the profit 3DO makes on each copy. Bad business, pure and simple.
Most people would probably toggle it off right away, so what's the use of having it in the first place?
Conclusion: it's a nice idea, but it just doesn't make sense to implement. A lot of effort on 3DO's part for no real return.
But , keep thinking and dreaming. Even if people don't agree, the excercise it gives your mind pays off in the long run.

a perfectly good idea to be used in heroes 6. after all, it would save this 10GHz pentium 8 from dieing of boredom and give jobs to a pack of indian and chinese graphic artists, as well as increase game price so as to match our higher income in 2006. but i wouldnt want to see that happen in heroes 5 in 2004.

Lol, you know, seeing as the situation is turning out, it would seem more probable to expect USA not being involved in a war for a hundred years, than for 3D0 (hey I recognize that company, didn't they go bankrupt some time ago?) having any further tainting influence in the evolvement of our beloved series. Just a stupid sidenote.
Also, I must say, initially the eye-candy was what lifted Heroes above the rest. I didn't start playing Heroes2 'cause the gameplay were astounding... I started to play 'cause it looked so much fantasy that I found myself lost in the forests of the Broken alliance.
Probably a question of priority.
(Looking forward to 2006 and 10Ghz ;-)
