Time for a change I'm not pressing "Load" again! :P
Hi everyone, new member here, 25 year old swedish guy. Just wanted to make a little useless post. Read on if you have time to spare.
Anyways. I just started playing Heroes III again. It used to be my favorite game and I now remember why.
Only problem with it is how addictive it is. I really have to start getting my life back on track, these last days have been awful lonely...
What I want to ask is if someone could tell me a bit about the multiplayer side of Heroes.
About for example how many players there are, if there are big events where the game is still played and are there any famous players(like say "Slayers Boxer" is in Starcraft) etc?
One thing is clear for me though, multiplayer is the only way I'm going to play in the future. I'm not playing anymore against the ai, it's no challenge even on impossible. *cough* *cough* should say that one reason could be because I have been using save and load alot...
always checking up how the map looks and what optimal routs to take then load, reloading to get money producing heroes in the tavern, reloading when the week shifts to get "week of xxx", reloading when carelessly loosing a unit to much in battle and so on.
Kinda stupid of me really to play this way. But I didn't think much of it at first, just wanted to play flawlessly but now I'm starting to feel it's not a good way at all to play. Even on impossible I always can build and buy everything since I "cheat" like this.
But like I said NO MORE! Now it's hardcore for me, going to try to play a game now gainst the comp without resorting to my little tricks to get used to this new realm. Will be hard though since I'm so used to it. If I sucessed then multiplayer here I come!
/Robert

First of all hi and wellcome to the Community!
About online gaming you can learn just about everything from the first thread in this forum; it's called "how do i solve my online problems exactly?"
About the number of people that can be seen on the zone, i'd say it's somewhere from 30 to 70 and maybe more on week-ends.So it shouldn't be a problem finding a game.
About the difficulty level in online games the most popular to my knoledge is 130%.But details like these can be agereed amongst players before starting the game.
Hope this helps a bit!
see you around!

hi there, checked up the topic you mentioned, lots of useful information, thanks.
Like I said earlier in my original post I have started to play without save now. I'm still not entirely comfortable with it but I'm getting there.
One thing is certain, a game takes much quicker without loading and saving all the time. So maybe I will have time to qet some sleep at nights from now on.
