Actually, if the Gulf Stream does turn, then Norway, Iceland and other northern European areas will most likely become more like Greenland than Siberia. And while there today live people in relative comfort in both Siberia and Greenland, you must remember that the interior of Greenland is simply a giant glacier, whereas Siberia is naught but a tundra, with lots of taiga inbetween.
And while people are able to live on the Greenland of today, one should remember that this is also a result of the Gulf Stream heating. If the Golf Stream does turn, then we here in the northernmost reaches of Europe will most likely get another ice age. Meaning 2,000 meters thick ice covers, ice covered seas, and all that stuff...

Quote: Ahh.. i forget to write something about that, sorry. In trasnlation something like Artisan Manole, but I suposse in macedonian the main charachter has a different name.. but .. The storyline in basics is something like a king(voievod in Romania) wants a beautifull church built, the master creation. The master of the artisans in the country tries to built it, but everynight what they razed during the day it collapses for many nights. The Master Artisan has a dream in which a voice from above tells him to build in the wall the first woman who passes around there, wife or daughter. The master artisan makes an agreement with the other 9 artisans not to tell their wives about the sacrifice, but the artisans don't respect the agreement. The first to come to building place is the Master's Artisan wife. Manole fouls her with a game and she builts the woman into the wall alive. In the ending everyone of the artisans dies beacuse of a mistake involving their agreement with the king, and they all jump off the church, trying to build wings like Icar.
Hope that clarifies.. The bad part is that you can't find one translation in english of Mesterul Manole...
Sorry guys for not responding lately to this thread. That's beacuse I've been very busy in the meantime working at a website related to folklore and stuff. I've got an important event on Thursday. My classroom and another classroom in school working at this project.Anyway, as I was working on the materials some classmates gave to me to include in the wbesite I found out several things...
1.There is an Armenian veriorn of the balad: In the armenian version is says something about building bridges across Arta and building castles(Ahaltica). Also we are talking here about sacrificing a girl(Gruzin). There are also some forms of the balad in prose talking about the construction of a fortress called Betlin. After she cried so much an almond tree apperead. The main focus in on the sacrificed girl, unlike the romanian version who focus mostly on the artisan
2.The Greek Versions:
The name of the artisan vary: Pavel, Paul,Iani etc.
Has a variable number of artisans
Is talking something about a ring or something( surely not the lord of the rings )

Just a possible minor point of interest:
I just wrote a quick resumé of the apocalyptic myth of the Old Norse. If anyone's interested, it's in Cold Winter, Bards Glade Pyre. Just nevermind the things that's obviously RPGing, and it's pretty decent...
