weird things to be found within HC
i don't know how many of you take notice of even the very details in this community, but I try to find [ and fight ] every single bug in this community as it is an enormous contribution to the board [ helping the community to grow was and is my job ]
well, i take notice of everything strange happening in the board. i think i may not be the only one to notice that.
so to say, i shall start with the bugs:
in most cases, when you do the fast-click [ or a simple click ] on the avatar of a member, it leads you to the profile page of that member.
however, in some cases [ it happens quite often for me ], it misleads to a wrong direction. it leads you to a profile page where the member's name is still written, but everything else [ status, post, quality count, avatar ] vanishes.
However, the status is still shown, but it is always disgraceful, no matter if you have many qps. Your post count status is not written.
Furthermore, the register date is " december 31, 1969". There was a similar bug before, when you got IMs with no text, no name written and a registed date "december 31, 1969" or "january 01, 1970".
it mostly happens when you quickly try to enter two pages, or return to a profile page you once browsed. sometimes it happens when u enter an unvisited place [ member directory ].
i find it very strange...
NOTE: this bug may have been noticed before, but I thought i would remind ya
HOW NOT TO NOTICE THE BUG: simply hit the refresh button or copy-paste the url and click go
also, a bug that is actually not a critical bug, but still... a bug [ i regard it as one, at least ]
if u click on the posts section in the profile page, it leads u to the members' posts' page...
normally u can see a post you have once posted and click the link to a page... next to the post, the name of the forum is written, ie: library, pther side etc.
the bug is that if you see a post you have once posted in the new "welcomes" forum, the word in brackets [ name of the forum ]isn't "welcomes"... the "other games" is written instead.
when the other games forum was created there was a similar misprint...
this is not actually a bug, merely a misprint, but i still wanted to remind u that things happen
if u asked how i found this out or where to see what is happening simply click on this link and scroll down [ or change the page if necessary and search for my thread "re-joining the community". next to it u'll see the misprint/bug.
i will post more bugs if i find any. they'll be enlisted here...
p.s. please do not spam the thread... leave it clean, unless the reply is absolutely necessary
p.p.s. i also suggest u all posting bugs [ if you see some ] too

Funny, I commented about that member profile bug a few days ago here. Of course, not in all the detail you've covered above.
Occasionally, when you enter a forum it takes a long time for all of the threads to load up. On even rarer occasions, they don't load up at all. I think I left the computer for almost twenty minutes once and the whole page didn't show yet. Web traffic or a busy server, maybe? In any case, this isn't a complaint, as it can be easily fixed by going back to the Index page and re-entering the forum in question. That usually fixes it.

Member profile posts Welcomes bug fixed now.
Bad profile - may be due to member logging in and posting as (for example) Pegasus instead of pegasus. This needs to be investigated further.
Blank IMs - not really a bug. Happens when you click "back" browser button to return to forumdisplay or viewthread page which previously delivered you some IMs.
Logged in twice - are you using two different web browsers on your computer, or accessed HC from another computer less than 10 mins ago, or reconnected to the internet during the last 10 min?
____________
You can wait for others to do it, but if they don't know how, you'll wait forever.
Be an example of what you want to see on HC and in the world.

IM bug or...?
While I understand IM bugs are common, I would like to know what has happened to some important IMs that were sent to me but I never received them. I'm asking because whenever I log in here, I start getting strange sounds (like *blop*, and no, it is not my stomach ). It started a week ago, when those IMS were supposed to have been sent. Could these bugs be connected?
In case it matters, I'm using Windows XP, Internet Explorer and modem 56k.

First guess it's that your XP is blocking your IM's.You should have an icon on the taskbar that tells you id pop-ups are or not allowed.Perhaps you have that option selected and you haven'y noticed that yet

I thought so myself, but I do get short IMs without any problems.
I've blocked IMs now, so I get less strange sounds.
In addition, my computer sometimes simply blocks when on this forum. I thought it was a virus or something, but it happens only here. It's quite annoying - I have to restart and try again.

My username changes EVERY time I visit the forum (once it's "vlaad", next time it's "Vlaad"). This is really annoying when I want to edit my posts. It's even more annoying when it says that the username doesn't match to the original poster (remember that "vlaad" is not the same as "Vlaad" at HC), but it actually does! So I have to change the first letter, which is not a big deal, but when I don't back up my post it's a real pain in the neck!
If it matters, I log in automaticly (the forum remembers my username and password).

That's weird. The forum remembers my password (until I clean out the cookies) and I don't seem to get that problem. Once, I deliberately capitalized my first "G", but that was only to imitate Jebus' ghost posts.

there are many ways to get a pop up blocket... some "help" bars for IE do this like the yahoo, msn, icq, google ones... and some others... also the IE 6 running in windows XP do the same thing... use some good antispyware like ad aware personal... is free an easy to use...
