Guild of Literature
Ok heres another one of my ideas, that hopefully won't be pushed to page 2 in a few days.
We have some writing talent here at HC. The guild of literature is for storywriters, songwriters, poets, any way people express themselves through writing. It can vary from a novel-length story, to a rap, to a song, or simply a Haiku. To join, just submit some of your work. If your works are externally linked (AKA on another website, in another HC post, etc) I will add the link here.
Oh yes and Members can add ratings for others, I will average the ratings out and put them next to the story.
Ok, here goes
,.,'`*+*+Members+*+*`',.,

i remeber a really good line i made up in a part of a story i had to write in school, it feels like one of those inspirational lines that you get in video games or movies. I actually like it alot
"When there is total darkness,
it can not become darker.
But no matter how bright a light shines,
it can always shine brighter,
there is no limit to the power of light.
AND THAT IS WHY LIGHT WILL ALWAYS WIN!!!"
I'm actually amazed i came up with such a cool line (even though i dont agree with it)
@pc: its called a limmeric, but i cant spell it right...

Apathy High
(written by Guitarguy sometime in early 2005)
They have no set tuition and there is no entry form
The rulebook's missing pages and the papers are all torn
The first day of instruction was forgotten months ago
Stay away from Apathy High
Chorus
Don't get trapped within those walls
The grime-covered decrepit halls
Dump the invitation and trash the application
Just say no to Apathy High
Students run amok and scream their curses at the dean
The teachers smoke their cigarettes while reading magazines
The chem lab just exploded and the gym's in smithereens
Stay away from Apathy High
Chorus
Don't get trapped within those walls
The grime-covered decrepit halls
Dump the invitation and trash the application
Just say no to Apathy High

I wrote this song with the crappiest run-down high school in mind. It's entirely fictitious, though, so don't think it's about the school(s) I attended. I find it ironic that I wrote this during my first year of college. I've never told anyone that I wrote this song, mainly because I've never really liked it.

Lonely Tonight
(written by Guitarguy on October 10, 2004 @ 8:32 A.M.)
Poignant emotions rupturing forth
Covering all the eye can see
Silent deception tears right through
And nobody seems to notice
Chorus
This will be another lonely night
I'm gonna have to fight the pain inside
I doubt I'll ever make it home alive
The pain is real, it's all I feel
I'm lonely tonight
Check out the lonesome ruby sky
See how it longs to show its smile
Amidst the cold abrasive wind
With nobody there to witness
Chorus
This will be another lonely night
I'm gonna have to fight the pain inside
I doubt I'll ever make it home alive
The pain is real, it's all I feel
I'm lonely tonight
I'm locked inside a world of hurt
The chains bind my arms so firmly tight
Throbbing sensations run their course
Burning their pathways through me
Chorus
This will be another lonely night
I'm gonna have to fight the pain inside
I doubt I'll ever make it home alive
The pain is real, it's all I feel
I'm lonely tonight

This is, without a doubt, my most ambitious vomit song ever. If you haven't any clue what a vomit song is, it is a song that literally flows out of you without much thought at all. Such songs can potentially carry a great deal of emotion and feelings inside the lyrics, although the songwriter is often the only one who can effectively decipher it. That said, most vomit songs don't make very much sense to others.

Mountains to the Sea
(written by Guitarguy sometime in early 2002)
Let us take a journey
Together, you and me
To see what lies before us
From the mountains to the sea
We'll trek the highest hills
And wander all the plains
Seeking wonderous treasures
And whatever else remains
We'll climb the tallest trees
And wade the largest streams
Spending our days searching for
The magical realm of our dreams
There's no end to the magic
So let your heart roam free
We'll wander here forever
From the mountains to the sea
---
I wrote this poem in 2002 for my 10th grade Literature class. I didn't start to write songs until late 2003, so I was quite surprised when I unearthed this artifact in Fall 2004. On the long piece of crumpled paper, I have the above poem at the forefront of a painting I had to make for the assignment. I painted rolling green hills with a blue river snaking over each hill, heading for the sea on the far horizon. I still remember doing this assignment; I procrastinated, as usual. The end product turned out surprisingly well (not to brag), because I usually paint horribly bad when I'm under crushing time constraints.

A poem About Might and Magic VII
Come to me I shall sing the song
an adventure of four souls most strong
In a contest a winner must prevail
before the ship now moored sets sail
six objects by them must be obtained
A task set for those most trained
A drink, shell, bow, lute, hat and tile
must be found before they leave Emerald Isle
The groups alchemist expert created the drink
a potion of red not orange nor pink
From a lady named sally obtained they a shell
it was so pretty they thought what the hell
and with that they bought two, one for the quest
and the second for keeping as a lucky charm/crest
a longbow they needed to find for lord Markham
so one they had found in the cave of a dragon
The dragon too strong for their starting power
they got the bow and left, before things turned too sour
next on the list was a temple's floor tile
finding their way in the dark took quite a while
So exclaimed the magical member of the four
"I'll learn fire magic, and it shall be dark no-more"
and the end of the temple they eventually reached
after fighting the spiders and bats that did screech
When they emerged the next to be found
was any instrument of musical sound
so talked to the islanders 'till the owls did hoot
they soon found a lady with a marvellous lute
a bard she was and the lute they were sold
the next on the quest was a hat not of old
the hat would be one of wealthiness high
they did not return to the temple in fear they would die
so found they a contestant who happily said
"I’ll give you this hat for that potion most red"
The trade was done and now list was completed
but knew not the contestants of how they would be treated
So set sail from the isle after the contest
they travelled in the ship and took a long rest
A town to rule, was their reward
but knew not they that they shall soon need a sword
Lord Markham was foolish and filled up with lies
for within Harmondale castle was a nasty surprise...
well thats it for now, i was really bored, i think i'll do some more another time if i get bored again, hope you all like it.

That's a good poem Niceguy, didn't know you liked M&M. Or maybe I did and can't remember. Oh well.
I have a short story which explains the Purists in a strange way (if you don't know who they are, you don't read Cold Winter enough). It's probably more suited to a novel, but I kept it at a few pages. I only have it in Word though.

These Autumn Days
(written by Guitarguy on September 15, 2004; 1:54 A.M.)
Summer, where have you gone?
Can't you see I've waited all year long
To meet you at my window
When springtime returns to the shadows
Chorus
Musty orange replaces the green
Yet the beauty of it all remains unseen
Memories take me back out of this dreamy haze
To the bliss before these Autumn days
Sunshine, where have you gone?
Can't you see I've waited all night long
To meet you at my window
When the moon and stars return to their hiding
Chorus
Musty orange replaces the green
Yet the beauty of it all remains unseen
Memories take me back out of this dreamy haze
To the bliss before these Autumn days
---
Just something I wrote on impulse, probably while feeling sad about not being with the girl I like. It's a junk song, but I still feel the raw emotion shifting restlessly somewhere inside it. And wow, summer is over already...

Jericho
(written by Guitarguy on July 17, 2004 @ 1:40 A.M.)
There is a town called Jericho
Where everything's frantically out of control
What can be done, there is nowhere to run
Who do they have to turn to, who do they have to turn to?
Chorus
In Jericho, the people hardly seem to know
That a star is shining, lighting all the streets below
Reality is treated like a fantasy
But nothing will convince them to truly believe
People are wastefully spending their lives
Robbing and cheating and spreading ill lies
Nothing is right, there's a cry in the night
Who do they have to turn to, who do they have to turn to?
Chorus
In Jericho, the people hardly seem to know
That a star is shining, lighting all the streets below
Reality is treated like a fantasy
But nothing will convince them to truly believe
Time after time they are looking to find
A way to bring comfort and peace to their minds
Life is unfair, someone whispers a prayer
Who do they have to turn to, who do they have to turn to?
Chorus
In Jericho, the people hardly seem to know
That a star is shining, lighting all the streets below
Reality is treated like a fantasy
But nothing will convince them to truly believe
---
I wrote this for a church function, but I never really used it. When I look over it now, I still like the idea, but I don't like the lyrics. If I can find the time, I might redo the whole thing. I hate it when I butcher my own work.

I have noticed that this thread has not had many responces in a long time but I thought that I could put something in to it. I am writing my own novel but im not ready to tell anyone the title or to much detail in case the idea is taken before i write it. At the moment I seem to have writers block so here is what I have come up with so far.
In a time of ancient Gods, Pharaoh kings and queens, the mighty empire known as Egypt rose from the dessert sands. Casting protection over the Egyptians was a multitude of Gods and Goddesses who once walked the lands with their people and were honoured daily. One God inparticular was that of Thoth, the God of Knowledge and Sourcery.
The Knowledge of Thoth brought with him 'The Book of Sacred Writings'. This one book contained all of the writings for Thoth himself and many of the people wondered what their God wrote in its pages and why he had claimed its writings as Forbiden Knowledge.
Many Decades later the Gods and Godesses no longer walked among their people, it seemed that they had all but vanished and left their people unprotected but in times of need they would appear to help and protect all of Egypt.
Although the Egyptians knew that their protectores still lived on, they have always asked "where did the Gods and Goddesses go." "Are we no longer worthy to have them walk among us?" "What has become of the book of Sacred Writings?"
Well that is as far as I have gotten. Does anyone have any ideas that I may be able to use, if I publish it oneday be sure I will give anyone who give ideas acknowledgement for what I use.

It is inventive.
Through days dawn I can see the light that shines on thee.
Though one is the life of another, you are the life of me and those around you.
When shadow crosses the devide you shall guide me unto the warmth of the heart.
When the evening bell tolls, you may leave me but I shall not sway for I shall see you from dawn next day.

about your story asgard, why dont u do something like there is this guy who is at some school and after a certain grade/age in the school, the student start to study sourcery. then this kid shows potential and is privatly tutored to increase his skill. then the kid asks about that book, the one thoth wrote, and the tutor starts giving information on it
meanwhile this peasant sort of guy stumbles upon a book in a cave/on an altar/where ever. then he beleives that the book is the one thoth wrote. the book is then stolen by some evil guy. then weird stuff starts happening like plagues and the like.
then the main guy, the young really good sorcerer has to go defeat the guy
does that sound any good?
and u might wanna put a time machine in there somewhere
