Also, isnīt it so that if you have two scripts, for example, affecting the attack skill of goblin; doesnīt the latter "overwrite" the first oneīs settings? So that if there is new script for those 6 creatures, all the enhanced creature scripts & such have no effect on that certain creature except the things that havenīt been reset in that new script?

in theory - yes. practically - imposible.

F.e. the Efreet Rajah replaces the arctic sharpshooter. If a script responsible for the Efreet's stats and abilities would be turned off, then the efreet would try to shoot - and since he has no shooting animation, you would get a crash.

and about scripts - that's true and that's why my script DISABLES all scripts that could interfere with it - f.e. te neutral town. Other scripts (as enhanced upgrades) were a bit modified so as to not change those 6 creatures. I'm not responsible for what happens if you also try to use other unofficial scripts that change moster stats.

Too bad, I have used the replaced creatures and custom creature scripts in nearly all my maps. Oh well, I guess I'll give it a try anyway.

sorry, but that's the best I could do. The only better sollution would be adding new creatures instead of replacing them - but I'm afraid that's still something only Slava can do.

But I wouldnīt have to disable that script if it had only the stats and abilities of those creatures, no need for those new buildings & other tricks. And I could edit those old scripts myself so that there would not be any such conflicts.

Q2: So what exactly are replaced in the game file? Monster graphics of those 6 creatures (.def files, I suppose?), some txt-files affecting their animations? What else? If possible, could I replace them myself one by one, manually, so that I could check all the changes made and edit things to suit my taste before putting them into game?

I see your point, although I'm afraid that I won't be creating another version of the patch with a script that would have to be turned on at all times (and that means that maps or campaigns that cannot be wogified could become unplayable) if it isn't a major concern and isn't requested by many people.

However naturally you're free to do everything you want with your game and this patch. To see which files are replaced simply unpack the file new_upg.wog (it's a bit specific rar archive, but it can be unpacked by all unpacking programs). Aside from the def files (including map sprites and portraits' files) and txt config files, the patch also includes some modified script files (I don't remember the specific numbers) and new graphic files (unneeded if you just want the creatures) as well as some cofig txt files needed for the installer.

Agreed. After all, four red stars would eventually remove floodprotect for him, so he can share more info with us!

Haregar has opened a new thread for Acid's new patch, and I agree with him we should move the discussion there. The title of his topic is more appropriate anyway. This one says "new building"...

Speaking of which... How hard is importing an external object file into the game? I guess there's less work than animating a new creature, for example. How do you set other things (the yellow entrance etc)? I would love to have some stuff (such as this "pioneer", although re-sized, of course). What is the way from an animated gif file to a fully functional object?

As for importing an object into the game then it depends - adding a new 'blank' map object is quite simple if you have the graphics (you need bmp images that can naturally also be extracted from a gif and then make a def file out of them). There are a few tools for that - the most popular I think is modhomm.

as for a castle object (inside the town screen) then I'm afraid for now, without the code it's quite impossible to add a completely new building. You can however try to replace one graphic with another - replacing the def file as well as masks - and that's something Zielevitz could talk about.

Actually for new blank object DEF is not enough.
You need MSK and MSG files...also you need a TXT editor to add the object in txt files..

Size depends on how many BMPs in DEF,and how big they are.
OK,I can make you a patch which would inegrate your object to WoG. Then you could make it function with ERM.
