Conan, so your position is in a part of Parliament that would maybe be like the Congressional Research Service (CRS) is for the U.S. Congress???  Fascinating...

What's your new position going to be?

Well, I don't much about the US governement, but I can tell you this is not a research service, it's a publication service. Unless your research service does the publications for the Congress...

My new job will be a Procedural Clerk. A PRL does many things mainly work/advise directly with members of Parliament in procedural questions. Also, they sit on parliamentary committees to act as an administrative assistant to the members of parliament and to take care of all the logistical matters. (flights, hotel bookings, travel committees) They are also given a staff to work with them. They work all over Parliament and in different areas to make sure the MP's can do their job well and not look bad.

Go to school and work 2 jobs... doesn't sound lazy to me

I work for Ford as a Quality Engineer... typical "Office Space" 9-5 job.

FORD = Found On Road Dead

God I hate those cars, my dad had one and the oil cap unlatched and the oil that spilled on the engine caught on fire. A true FORD moment!

Hope you don't have me for this, Crew!

Wow, Conan, that's very kewl!  Sounds like you're like a legal clerk or paralegal for your representatives.  That's pretty heavy stuff, honey.

(And yes, the CRS does the publications for Congress too)

it is exactly that, a legislative clerk. You hit it on the head there.

It is pretty heavy stuff and the interview was nuts. I prepared months for it, reading procedural texts and meeting with other well-kown clerks. At first, I was happy only to be asked for an interview (after the huge exam). Then, when I was on the list I couldn't beleive my eyes.

And now, I'm next in line... I could get a call anytime.

It's an honor being in your company.  This is no small deal and I know how huge the responsibility is. Let us know when it comes to fruit.

Hey -- wait a minute!

Have you ever driven a crane?

Just think about the monumental amount of power you have to keep under control when operating one of those heavy pieces of machinery.  It also takes a lot of skill in keeping the thing from doing damage.

The only reason I say so is because I operated a small front-end loader when I was working for a tree nursery and despite its small size almost knocked down the side of a greenhouse accidentally one day...

The "Bummer" comment was kinda an internal Norwegian thing - Norske Skog Union ("Norwegian Forest Union" - it's a paper mill in Norway's foremost industrial area) is scheduled for closing, even though they still make a profit. Apparently, the world "market" for paper is kinda saturated.

It wasn't meant as an insult or anything.
