Well those great ones you speak of probably aren't called noobs too often... and if they are, it is probably coming from an online friend that is just razzing that person. If that is not the case, then it may be comming from someone who had a bad day, or someone that had some drinks (that never happens )
Only reason I can think that a "great noob" wouldn't get a game is that the games take so long as it is, so players are looking for games to earn points to show for their time put in. If the noob is not in a tournament of some sort, it will be hard for that person to get a game... not because of being a noob, but because of not being in a tournament. There are people that do come online for fun games too, but not many in comparison. As I've also learned, a player that is 1700+ in toh would only score 1 point if they beat a player that is 1000. So in this case, it is also nothing personal, they just want to gain something for the 4-6 hours put in.
@Tigris - Lucianfoo, the reason you ended with a "g" is because the launch button was hit and that was the last letter typed Besides, you are a Veteran slayer, so I doubt anyone would say anything like that to you

LOL!!!! Dirkinator!! (Terminator) Lucianfoo and I have been spending months plotting our dual attack against you. Even with us teaming up against you, the odds are not in our favor
Maybe we can all join forces and try to take down Marettifoo in a 3 vs 1 game?

Maaan, I really like you guys. I mean trully. All of you posting here. I'm on the floor laughing, you have great sense of humor and I love that. That's why I love it here, most are funny guys (even the bad tempered ones), many have a sharp wit and some are as skillful as you can get (who should we learn from if not them?). I also loved it on zone, but there're also some stupid people and I just can't accomodate among them. Anyways, CoCoDemon, you should be rewarded for starting this thread, my friend. God, I love this!
Sure LKru33, you are right there, many young players act like that, plus Tigris. Oops, wrong: Tigris is ending his enthousiasm with a "g". And yes, I personally like the "foo", but in the right context.
Conan, you're great sport. We all are HoMM players and should prove that with our behaviour. (Please make sure you quote me right, you're not foo'ing me! :-) )

Maybe even u will learn the difference *crushes his guitar rudely over his head*

You're quite a whiner yourself. I was expecting a better argument out of this, but it all had to go back to the whiny guitar excuse. Save your tears for later.

Well, of course you wouldn't pick on just any new guy. You head for the ones who unknowingly give bad advice or the anything related (see example below):

..oh geez.. ..where is Sir Steven when u need him...seems like some peeps never learn.
There's already a standard expected of him, I see. And it must not matter that he joined HC only half a week ago. That's not enough time to absorb everything.
You might get the idea, but then you might not.

Please donīt start this old topic again....i guess this was discussed a way too long in the past...and i thought we all went over it.
Every one showed his statements and told us his story...but it should be over now...donīt force a vet to post stuff like that, and it wonīt come up again.

Allow me to expand on this before we sweep this under the rug. I feel that there's an important point that should not be missed.
Take me, for instance. I never got involved in fierce multiplayer competition, staying purely in solo-play mode. I'd never heard of chaining before, since I hadn't relied on it before. Same with treasure chests; I'd take whatever I needed at the time. After all, I only played for fun rather than for wins or other competitive baggage. For me to come here and innocently post my ideas, I'd be frowned upon as being a terrible player by Zone-standards. On the other hand, my own playing style served me well the whole time.
It's wrong to assume that everyone here is out to be good in the Zone. People still need time to perfect their strategies and thinking to match what the popular crowd expects. Check out the Library. You hardly find any solo play strategies these days because it's mostly all multiplayer. If you don't have the background or mindset to fit in, then you surely won't.

Yeah, I suppose anyone is beatable from a Terminator's point of view... especially if they are human
2 vs 2 is fun, once you get past the 1-2 hours it takes to get the teams lined up correctly

Guitarguy...i guess u got me wrong coz of my lack in good expressions in english language.
With the force thingie, i didnīt ment the typical noob stuff like "Solmyr, experience from chest" and similar "strategies", but to bring back older discussions about noob-bashing from vets. If u bring back these stories again (may they be right or wrong), you force a vet to "get on that train again" and post stuff like Xarfax did this time.
Thatīs why i submit to not bring them up again, but let new members make their own experience and let us Mods react when it comes to a "bashing" again.
Hope i made my point more clear this time ....lol

Understood. Xarfax says what he wants to, although I don't approve of him using me as a chew toy or comfort object, so to speak. He is, after all, fortunate that I didn't tattle on his spam-IM incident a few months ago...
In fact, I'm awaiting his subservient kowtowing any moment now.

Well...i like to learn...
...next time i will state: "Maybe it is not such a good idea not to take gold from chests".
Even if some players just mentioned that 3 times before in the same thread (to note: Gabygurl wanted to say "always" instead of "never").
I hope if i begin to state that way, i may stop hurting your fluffy feelings, which i really "respect" (<-learnt from Gabygurl).
One question (please answer honestly): In school, did u always run to your (guitar)teacher to cry at his shoulder, when someone did say something mean?
..cause, this acting looks similar to what you are doin constantly on this board.

Thats the whole point....its all about who you play. You play your mates in a hotseat game, who cares if you use soly as main and 50% of chests u take, u use for soly's experience...not to mention picking up all treasures with soly too...
Its when you (if you) come to the zone and expect the same strategy to work where logic fails. You may not, though others do. When the "other" see their wonderful strategy get crushed in week3 by an actual "good player"...this is exactly where you see the difference in noobs. The honorable one will learn, make some saves, check out the straegy, try and get better for next time. The other one (the one who gives noobs a bad game) will come out into the zone and spam the good player with accusations of cheating and so forth. This particular noob gets a reputation and tends to live up to it unfortunately.
Doesnt happen? it happens all too often and the main reason why I steer clear of new players. Sure there will be some honorable ones, but for all the honorable ones, there will be 5 who drop out of the final fight, drop the day before the final (they see your main ) Lose a fight in their turn...drop and come back and say "oh so sorry, the power went out, can we have your auto" Skip the game when its obvious tey're gonna lose, dont report, call you a cheater...sorry i just dont need it.

Quote: One question (please answer honestly): In school, did u always run to your (guitar)teacher to cry at his shoulder, when someone did say something mean?
If you want the truth, I was teased quite a lot in fifth and sixth grade. I didn't shed a single tear, though. I mostly just shrugged off what people told me and carried on. Eventually, by intermediate or high school, the fun people found through picking on me died off (because I killed it). Throughout that time, I learned to be tough on the inside and feel sympathetic for others around me who were getting teased, as well. In other words, I learned to reach out on the behalf of others.
Quote: ..cause, this acting looks similar to what you are doin constantly on this board.
Do you think my "whining" serves no purpose? Is it really acting or whining?
When you see one person hurt or wrong another person, how would you react? Would you feel sorry for the victim, or would you join in the fun and cause some trouble? Would you laugh at the sight of it and walk away, or would you stay behind to comfort the victim? Or would you do nothing and feel nothing?
We may be online and unable to see each other face-to-face, but the rules of courtesy still apply, nonetheless. I always try my best to make others feel comfortable, even if it means standing up and speaking out against the majority. I hope you're getting something positive out of what I'm saying. If not, then that's too bad.
Perhaps if we met in real life, we'd be able to make ends meet more effectively.

Rych is right; the main reason why I stay away from new players is exactly that.
So far I've been called a cheater twice: 1 time for looking at the editor when I wasnt hosting duhuh...
and once a few months ago for breaking when other had his pants down; believe it was Mighty Chello or so. he was still a n00b then and failed to see that i walked 4 days to the break and it was nice of him to leave his town open, but not much cheating in that; the word he was looking for was 'stupid' I think
So ya, I stay away from people who do not have a decent amount of games online yet; they tend to 'see things differently'
Age is also a matter tho. I like playing grown ups a lot better.

ive been reading a lot on hc lately but have only today started posting replies,i have tried to be objective in my opinion about peoples varying experiences in the online homming hobby.
i shall not mention the names of anyone during this particular reply.....there is no need .
when i first played online i had trouble getting started because i was a noob (still am),had trouble patching, finding game, people zeroing in on an easy win and explaining nothing to me when i asked how they did a particular thing.i changed my name to Lady Lust and started calling everybody "honey".To my suprise the reaction towards me changed immensely(lol).
My point is that i went to a lot of trouble to reach a point where i can log on at more or less anytime of the day and find an opponent willing to play me in a very short time.I took all the insults people offered and consider it to be part of the "breaking in" process.
some people where very helpfull when i first appeared online (you people know who you are ,and i still have appreciation for it).
I think that to not play a noob because he is a noob sux,and im not talking about points here.many times i have taken a noob into a "2v2 vs comp" game and played for 1 week to show them my limited skills and help them get started, afterall we need more players and the best way to gain interest is to show the potential of the game.
if someone is too sensitive to take a bit of a ribbing however, its not our responsibility to babysit them, and if someone(EVEN A 1ST DAY NOOB)tells me he understands all the rules that it took me 20 mins of typing to explain ,breaks a rule/cheats/spams me in game with nonesense like "ssllllooooowwwwwww gaaaameee" every turn, then i'm gonna let him know what i think in no uncertain terms.
