The Way of the... SPRITE!!
This time I included dwellings...
The new one is good, looks more nature oriented than the magic like the rest which is suitable...
The Heroes 3 ones are pretty good but nothing special.
I like the wings on the H4 one but still pretty plain, and the H2 one (red) looks like a middle aged fat woman.
The H1 one (yellow) brings back good memories, but looks too cartoonish especially with that little tree house. My vote is tied between Heroes 3 and Heroes 5, and since H5 is more interesting I'll go for that.

The H1 and H2 Sprites dropped out immediately, I'm afraid. I've been mystically coerced to choose the H3 beauties as the best-looking. The new 3D-looking creatures look cool, but tend to reflect the sexy design epitomized in games nowadays. It's hard to appreciate it if it's so widespread and overdone.
Damn vines. (Sorry, couldn't resist  )
What happened to the H2 Treehouse? I suppose I like that one. The H3 dwelling seems more like a glass prison cell than a Lantern. I'd hate to live in one of those things if I was one of them. I guess Sprites have better luck (and longer life spans) than most moths around lights.

H3 all the way, look great and feel sexy.
H1-2 just poor. and H4-5 look wild and scary...

i like the fact the h5 ones don't have wings, make it look less like a giant butterfly.
h3 ones look real pretty while h4 ones are just plain ugly

I liked the new design. Looks very "natural". The only point I dislike is the hanging vines around it's head. It gives a Octopus look to it.

Yea homm5 is by far the best, simply because of its 'natural' connotations, as well as the lack of those butterfly winds (which i had detested since homm1) as BB has mentioned.

I can't decide - they're all so aestheticly displeasing.
H3 look like prostitutes, or at least stupid bimbos. (However, the upgraded one is the one perhaps closest in resemblance to those Pixies "photographed" in England, a couple of decades ago.)
H4 is so "featureless" - no details.
H5 is exaggerated.
H2 I am unable to find any flaws in, since H2 is my favourite game, and I've played it much, but I still think it's nothing special, which means that it's probably very bad indeed.
H1 may be the one I have the least against. I don't mind it looking like it's straight out of a comic book.

Actually, the H5 rendition comes "straight out of a comic book".  "Cartoony" is the word, but it I find it archaic.

Hmm, looking closer at the H1 Pixie (or Sprite), I noticed it's extremely "attitudish" stance - fists on hips, feet solidly on the ground, a hard face - and I like it. And then I notice how the H5 one displays a kind of the same attitude, in how it's standing.
Maybe they're not so freakishly ugly as I first thought...

if there will ever be a poll.i'll vote for Heroes III.The rest look childish,strange..the H5 one isn't a sprite anymore,its some sort of deadly vine monster.

Terje I wouldn't exactly say the H5 one has it's feet 'planted firmly on the ground'... I wouldn't even say they are on the ground at all
But thinking about that H4 is the one which looks most 'fairyish' in its stance, prancing about. The H1 doesn't exactly look mystical or intangible like fairies/sprites are supposed to be.

i think the best ones are the sprites from h4 and h1. h4 had nice animation with semitransparent wings and h1 is the cutest of all, except that on the battlefield it was larger than the purple dragon!

i like them all but i like h3 and h5 most. they look well designed

There is one flaw in your collection, TitaniumAlloy. Instead of the HoMM2 dwelling, you have shown us the 'horde' building. The crystal garden increased sprite growth by 8/week, but didn't give the possibility to buy them on it's own.
As for the H2 sprite looking like a fat, middle-aged woman... Either I'm blind, or the sprite is not fat at all. Actually, by the way you describe it, I'd think you're talking about the H2 medusa. Except the fact that you mentioned redness

Heroes 5. Sprites tend to be rather good for level one, yet they look very fragile. this one is very much DONT MESS WITH ME style, which i aprove of.
