Barabarian, The best Hero?
Hi All,
I just got my HOMM stuff.
It seems that the Barbarian hero has three starting abilities. This makes him the best starting character.
Did anyone try to make him a spell caster barbarian?
I thought to add my barbarian the ability to cast one of the following: Chaos/Life/Nature and put him in a nature castle. It will a great hero.
What do you think?

For all I know, you may have stumbled onto the greatest combo ever! Just one problem......
Your starting hero, town and units must all be of the same alignment. So in order to accomplish your idea you'd be forced to start with a Nature set (hero/town/creatures) add the Barbarian(s) to your army by way of a Tavern or Prison Cell location, then continue on winning enough fights to get your Barbarian to level up in order to gain the magic skills to cast the spells in whichever alignment you chose.
Not impossible, but probably not the most practicle way to try and make an army. If you decide to give it a try, please let me(us) know how it goes.

Barbarian Spellcaster Deck
My secret is exposed! One of my best decks is a Might Deck with a Death Castle with 2 copies of death magic skills, some wicked cool death magic spells and lots of Barbarian Heroes. I also have the shrine of Death Magic and Necromancy (as well as an artifact that gives my troops a +2 morale to offset the negative effects of the horde of ghosts or vampires I always end up with).
I have crystal mines (which I use for my Behemoths) and enough Bone Dragons to make a sizable force of them even if I have to use a creature dwelling. The cool thing is that even if I can't get my death castle deployed, I can learn my Death Spells in an opponent't Order, Chaos, or Death castles. Usually, I use the Mire spell in the shrine so I can bog down my enemy and beat him back to his own castle and learn spells. Then I come after him, or run away, depending on the power I have ammassed.
This deck is wicked cool, and absolutely FEASTS on order decks. This is because their castles can teach me my death spells and their troops are too slow to chase me down or get away from me early inthe game. Oh yeah, and with my magic resistance, their only flying creatures (genies) make very poor hero assassigns, since their Ice Bolt spells do nothing to me at all, and my defense is 14 after leveling up only once (as long as I have my Castle).

Don't I wish! Depending on the date, I might actually be in the area (compared to where I am now in Maryland) but I don't think my family (specifically 5 yr old son) will be too happy if I ditch them at Disney.
One day Kohi...one day!
